I'm making a wedding cake for next weekend. The bride wants very simple / elegant cake. MMF on tiers with an off white satin ribbon around the bottom of each layer. I've never used ribbon on a cake before and am wondering how you connect the two ends as they meet? I see so many beautiful cakes on this site with the ribbon around them. I would love to hear from those of you who've done this before. Thanks!

On MMF, I would use an edible glue. Are you using royal on it? You could attach it with some royal. In my experience, I make sure the ends overlap just a little bit. Enough to where there won't be an obvious seem at the ends.

Thanks Amy. I'm not using Royal, but may try it with BC.

I just did a cake with ribbon around the bottom, and I just took two pearl-tipped pins and pinned the ends (overlapped) into the cake in the back. It held it just fine, and that way, there's no glue to seep through and stain the ribbon. It worked for me! If you don't want the pins to be obvious, you could use plain pins, but I would worry that they wouldn't hold it as well. Good luck!

Thanks APCakes. I had picked up some of these pins for that very reason, but thought maybe I should ask to see what others do. I'm glad it worked out and I will likely go with this idea as I think the BC would seep and stain the ribbon and likely not hold very well. Thanks again.
