Does anyone have a recipe for the whipped icing that you can get on grocery store cakes? I've been asked for this and tried a few recipes, just none taste like theres.
I think they use things like nutriwhip, its a non dairy whipped topping that you whip yourself.
Have you tried Pastry Pride or Rich's Bettercreame? They are both non-dairy whipped icings. I think Sam's Club uses the Rich's Bettercreame on their cakes.
The grocery store I work for uses a pre whipped topping called BETTERCREAM it is made by Rich's. If you have a Sams Club near by you can buy a whole bucket for like $22.00 that is already whipped. Just go to the bakery dept. and ask for it.
Hope this info helps.

I asked this question once because I wanted the thickness of the grocery store icing and they pointed me to the Whipped Cream buttercream icing on this site. I tried it and it is really like the grocery stores.............
I use Pastry Pride and it is exactly like those whipped cream frostings you get on the grocery store cakes. They also use it on the cakes at Baskin Robbins and you can buy it there for about $4/quart.
That is good to know I have tried to use things on an ice cream cake with no luck but I never asked them to sell me some. I guess that makes sense. Do you know if any one other than Baskin Robbins has quarts to buy? Also do you know how long it lasts?

Not sure of anyone else who sells it but it wouldn't hurt to ask the bakery at your local grocery store.
Would they sell the same stuff you use on an icecream cake? Is it the same thing as they use in a bakery? I wish I could just make the stuff myself.

You could always try this stabilized whipped cream recipe. I think that will give you similar results but I haven't tried it yet.
