I am new to this site and am a self taught decorator. I have just got an order for a cake with calla lilies. And of all things they want them red. I used what seemed like a ton of red red paste and it still looks pinkish/orange. Is there a better way to get the red/red. Also, would the red Wilton Spray work? I have this cake due on Nov. 11 so I really need to get on it.

The easiest way is to color the gumpaste a lighter shade of red with paste or gel color, make the lilies and let them dry completely, then dust with a red petal dust and steam them over a pan of boiling water. The steaming helps set the color so it doesn't flake off on your iced cake.
