Do you think $40 for this cake (it's the first one in my photos that says happy birthday mom (pink)) is too much. It's a 10 inch marble with cherry filling and whipped frosting. Dressed with gumpaste flowers, ribbon and a string of fake pearls.? The guy that ordered it will be picking it up tomorrow and I don't want to over charge.
It's hard to say because what you charge depends on what area you live in. But not knowing, I would say, no, because it's a 10" with a lot of gumpaste flowers, and those aren't cheap. Did you discuss the price ahead of time? That will usually get rid of those price jitters.
I charge $35-40 for a 7" square two-layer decorated cake without anything as extravagant as gumpaste flowers
I think that it's a great price!
I charge $40 for a 10" cake too, buttercream icing with fondant accents. I was wondering if if was too much as well.
I would charge $45. The economies of scale just aren't worth it to do small cakes in my opinion. Usually when someone wants me to do a small cake, they don't want to pay the money, but it isn't worth it for me otherwise. I make the same big mess of my kitchen as with a larger cake...
