This thread is a lot of fun! I always cringe when I look back at some of my early cakes, well, even over some of my recent ones!! I love to see how everyone else is doing too, you can really see how much everyone has improved! Keep up the great work folks!!

I didn't do a class one cake I was sick that night. But here is my first cake done for course 2 and my last cake done for Fondant and Gumpaste class, which I just did on the 27th. My poc's are in reverse.

Somehow i missed lots of the new posts in this topic. I am now having a little trouble opening the links (must be busy now!) So I will go back later and check out everyone's great cakes! I love to see how far we have helped eachother come!

I want to join in also. My first cake was a wedding cake that I did before any lessons. My current cake was a castle cake I did this week.

Okay, my very first cake was a Panther's superbowl party. I had never decorated a cake before and was SO proud of myself. Ha! Ha! Looking back now, I should've been under the table hiding from my "skills." Not only is it unattractive, but it is canned frosting ! YUCK!!!

Okay, I am a true newbie, but I'll share.

I've just started and must sign up for a cake decorating class....got lots to learn. I've done 6 cakes since July 5th. I am so inspired by all the talent here at CC and YES....I am addicted!!

The long-time cake gurus who take their time to answer questions and post on CC should look at these and be so thrilled with how much you have inspired the rest of us!!

No pics of my first two cakes... they were too ugly. So I signed up for the first Wilton class-- took the book home after the first night, taught myself roses and made what I thought was a pretty cake- finally! The second pic is my sister's wedding cake, just a few weeks ago.

The first picture you see is from today's wedding, and I loved it!

The second picture is my first wedding cake, done for my SIL (freebie), and we didn't know about doweling, so the entire cake you see has not a single dowel anywhere. I don't know how it survived without imploding!

Oh, and the tacky photoshop marks are my lame attempt to block out the even tackier background of cheapo untaped drywall and chintzy fake metallic garland.
