I baked a banana nut cake...2" double layers of 10", 8" and 6" topper... The sea shell are ceramic... I used whimiscal buttercreme filling.mmmmm and faux fondant icing... then I had my son crush pecan sandies and vanilla waffer cookies to resemble the sand... I used sugar cubes dipped in icing and cookie crumbs sprinkled on them around the top...Some of the cookie crumbs came off when I was stacking the cakes..... I was running out of time so I didn't get to put them around the other two layers...the bottom layer has doubled sugar cubes around it.. it's hard to see it.... Any way... it was a big hit being my Son in law and daughter just got back from vacationing in NC...It was his 30th. birthday....he loved the cake...
I thought it tasted really good too, and it smelled "GREAT"!!!!
It was very hot and humid here and I was worried about the cake staying together...lol...but it did...
Thanks for looking...

Thanks for the compliments.....
No...No big party..... I had to make up for a cake I owed him from last yr..... We had the bottom cake here at my place.... and the top cake goes to his mom and dad...and the middle cake he's taking to work today to share with his clients.... He works at a skills home and takes care of 3 mentally challenged boys.... They'll enjoy the cake, I'm sure....
Thanks again..

The cake looks great! Love the sand.
I've never heard of "whimisical buttercream" Would you mind sharing the recipe?

Thanks!
