Has anyone ever used that new Pam spray with flour made specifically for baking... to grease your pans with? I want to know if its actually worth the money to buy it. I mean yeah, its $2.50... lol but still, I'd like to get a consumer's opinion.

thanks CCers!

Yep use that and the crisco with the flour and they work great...I haven't a lot of extra space for the crisco/flour mix people mix theirselves so this is the best option for me icon_smile.gif

I have the Pam with flour. I like it! I used to do the whole Crisco and then flour the pan, but I think the Pam is faster.

I use the Crisco with flour - the one in the blue can. It's wonderful, nothing sticks.

I love Pam with flour but it isn't always readily available where I shop (and often hard to find without having to drive all over the city) so I use Crisco with flour alot. My husband has slipped up several times and bought Baker's Joy....I HATE IT! I don't recommend buying it unless you want to choke to death from whatever is in it after spraying it (no matter how much you turn your head, angle outwards etc.)...plus the cake doesn't come out with clean edges or may have some left in the pan.
icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif I know, you just asked a simple question. LOL LOL Just had to tell you about Baker's Joy...don't do it.

That is funny. I have never had any problem with Baker's Joy, the Crisco is the one I had trouble with the cake sticking in the pan.

I use the Pam with Flour whenever I am out of Wilton's Cake Release. I always used the Pam with Flour until my cake decorating teacher told me about the Cake Release. Now it's the only thing I use!

I LOVE the PAM with flour. I usually use a commercial release, but the PAM is the best I've found!! thumbs_up.gif

REALLY?? You guys that have used Baker's Joy haven't almost gagged to death on the fumes or whatever it is. No matter how I try to avoid it, I almost have to put on a gas mask to keep from choking to tears on it. I also do love the cake release...I totally forgot about that but it's just so much faster to spray it on. Well except when I've used Baker's Joy...I have to get myself together after spraying it so it takes away from what I'm doing icon_biggrin.gif. I know it seems crazy...but it's so true LOL LOL LOL

I haven't used the pam with flour, but I have used the wilton brand and it works amazing. I was one of those people that wasted alot of cake because of sticking , now I never worry, I just plop it out, don't have to line with parchment or anything. I can't tell you what peace of mind this gives me, I wouldn't bake cakes without it. I mostly had trouble with 12" or larger cakes, but now they never stick, I think its worth every penny. I'm sure the pam spray would work the same

I use Baker's Joy and never had one drop of trouble. I do wipe the nozzle after each use to prevent clogging. I have also used Pam for baking and it is fine also but I prefer Baker's Joy. I have never had a cake stick and I leave them in the pan for a while. I will stick with Baker's Joy.

I used both the Crisco with flour and the Pam with flour and both of them worked, never had any cakes stick....but, for those of you who haven't tried the homemade cake release:

http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-1963-Cake-Release.html

please do, it works even better than these high-priced products, with none of the artificial stuff. I always wondered how come my cakes would always get lots of crumbs (even with crumb-coating) and it was due to the above sprays...they cause the sides of the cake to get kind of crispy, while the homemade release does not. And better yet, I still have not had a cake stick and it is much cheaper to make. HTH!

OMG, I COMPLETELY forgot about that tooo! My hubby bought me several (as he always does with my supplies...extra butter, extra sugar etc). I go to use a brand new can and it stops spraying...go to the next NEW can, it clogs after 1 use and the other can clogged as well. I always wipe them if there's a build up...but these were brand new cans. Not to mention, this continues to happen...every single time he buys them. Not only am I choking to death but I'm putting less-than-half used cans in the garbage. Whatever works for you all but I'll never use Baker's Joy again....didn't leave this baker with any joy! Believe I will use the recipe Ribbitfroggie's talkin about...been meaning to but slipped my mind.

I am another Baker's Joy(less) uhappy customer as Mekaclayton and rosita6882 stated. I've gone through 3 cans of it-each one lost air and didn't work after about 4 cakes. They weren't clogged, they were airless and defective. Last week I emailed them and haven't heard a word of response, not even the standard we got your email and our customer service will be contacting you. So much for them, a defective product is bad enough, but coupled with non-existant support is unacceptable.

A good trick I learned for the odor and the spraying mist mess is to spray the cake pan while holding it in front of an open dishwasher-position the pan so you aim the spray at the racks and dishes behind it. The mist will land on the dirty dishes and the open dishwasher door. Shut the door as soon as you're done and the odor is trapped in the dishwasher as is the messy overspray. Works like a charm.

I love Crisco with flour in the blue can. I think Pam with flour is pretty good, but seems to spray out "clumpy" after a few cakes. Bakers Joy is the only thing I've EVER used that caused my cakes to stick and just about put me into a seizure from coughing so hard. It must just affect different people in different ways-it's horrible for me.

I use Bakers Joy, used to Pam but after I tried Baker's Joy I have just stuck with it. I do put the nozzel under the hot water after each and every time I use it and I have never had a clogging problem, but I always did that with the Pam also. I have used Crisco and flour but for me it is just easier (and alot less messy) to get the can of baker's Joy out and spray my pans with that.

Hugs...hugs...hugs! You understand. I almost fall on the floor from gagging to death. My eyes water from coughing so hard. My hubby always ask if I'm okay...I'm like...DUH..I'm choking to death here!
Antylucifer...you're right, that's what it is...it's losing air. I have 4 cans right now that are almost full......nothing. No air coming out, not clogged just not working. It seems clogged though and that running water over it, never works. I thought I was crazy....so glad to learn I'm not the only one that has almost had convulsions from this product. icon_biggrin.gif

I've had the pam with flour for a while but I would still add parchment to the bottom of the pan..never really been risk taker when it comes to baking cakes. This past weekend, I was too lazy to cut up the parchment so I just used the spray by itself...no sticking! I think I will discontinue the parchment.

I made several cakes today for my first wedding cake this Saturday. The first 3 cakes, I used the regular Crisco and flour in the pans. Well my second batch I decided to use the Pam with flour to see the difference, and believe me, I will not go back greasing and adding flour to my pans!! Even the homemade release that I found here did not work as well as the Pam with flour.
