So my cookies both got a blue ribbon, but I think that I was the only one to enter either category, since I didn't see any other decorated cookies or theme baked goods at all. SO, since I had no competition, how much "glory" is there in winning the blue ribbons? Of course if I had gotten third place ribbons and I had been the only one to enter it might make more of a statement LOL....that would be cruel, sad, and funny all at the same time if judges would ever do that. LOL

First off your cookies are amazing and I have no doubt that even if others had entered they would have faced some pretty stiff competition from your cookies, and I believe you would have won both blue ribbons anyways! icon_smile.gif So take those blue ribbons and show them proudly!

Thank you Ginny....=) that is what I keep telling myself. LOL..... I am already planning my strategy for next year....hopefully people this year will see that they have a decorated cookie entry and will want to compete. I really was looking forward to seeing what other people had done. Oh well, That is what CC if for, right?

Congratulations, you did well even if nobody else entered - your cookies are fab!

You never know, maybe others were going to enter. They got up to the table and saw your cookies, looked down at their own, then just turned around and left, so as not to have to suffer the embarassment of having their own cookies next to some so spectacular! icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, these are the things I tell myself, in order to make it through the day, sometimes. haha

Congratulations!!!!

Congrats on your blue ribbons - Well deserved. Your cookies are awesome!

Take the "glory" - if your judges are like ours - they judge on the individual merit of the entry first, then against the other entries. If the entry does not merit a blue - it could very likely get a white or no ribbon at all (seen it this year at our fair in the baked goods).

So be proud!! Congrats!!

Oh my gosh that is hilarious! I am totally laughing over here......I think I would have been laughing and crying had I been given second and third in a competition where I was the only entrant LOL........Thanks for sharing that!

Hollyanna70: Thank you. I was one of the first people at the fair to bring stuff in last Saturday...so you must be right! LOL

Littlegrahamcracker: Thanks! That makes me feel better that I might not have gotten the blue ribbon if the judges didn't think I deserved it.

Be happy I agree with the others your cookies are exceptional and I think the judges would not have given you the blue if you didn't deserve it.

Hey you won! You earned it as your cookies are absolutely fantastic.

FYI ... I won first place in my age group in a 10K race last year (I was the only one in my age group) but the way I look at it is I earned it because of my effort. So, I think you earned it because of your effort and it paid off for you. Hang up that ribbon with pride and put in on your 'resume.'

We are all on this site to help one another in much as praise as in ideas. Freddy you deserve those ribbons for having the courage to enter but also because your art is wonderfull. Dont listen to people who try to take that from you. I didn't enter my fair last year because I was too scard. I am doing it this year and acctually got a panic attack while working on it but people like you have given me the support and courage to do it. GOOD FOR YOU.

Thanks for having my back Phoohbear! =) I looked through your gallery and there is no need for you to panic! You do a great job on your cakes. Let us know what you enter and when you win a ribbon! =)

Oh on a side note, I forgot to tell you guys that when we were taking the cookies in to drop them off that my husband was holding them and tried to put them on the roof of the van and they fell off......he caught them mid fall, but it nearly gave me a heart attack! He immediately handed them to me and said, "YOU HOLD THEM!" Obviously they were fine...but my heart was definitely in my throat for that minute!

I helped judge for a fair ... in Open Class the judges place you where they think you "qualify". That's why Mrs. Grandma on BBC DIDN'T get first. icon_redface.gif
I saw several entries not even get placed at all ... that gives the competition more authenticallity (ha! I know that's not a word!)
SO ... WAY TO GO! thumbs_up.gif
I know what you mean about not having compitition ... I didn't have another cake "compete" with me and it really bugged me because I wanted to see what someone else would come up with ... that's what CC is for! icon_lol.gif

Thank you. I have a question...they sent my cowboy cookie home with a HUGE ribbon that just said Kitsap County fair 60th anniversary Kick it up. What do you guys think that ribbon was for? It is a big ribbbon. I looked around and no one else had one. A little girl was the one handing back the stuff, so she really didn't know what it was for, LOL and I didn't feel like finding a grown up to ask. Any guesses?
