This cake is a 8" sponge cake filled with buttercream and jam then covered in fondant with gum paste decorations and buttercream piping. I'm only a beginner and I have learnt everything from books, no classes and I'm 15. What do you think and How much do you usually charge for a cake like this?
thanks
Kayla
first -- a monstrous round of applause for such a great cake.
if this is "self-taught" & only 15, (does math on finger and toes) --- then in about 7-10 years we should see you on a FoodTV challenge.
that is one pretty cake, very well done!!!!
------
due to fondant and all the extra froo-froo -- let the bidding begin at:
$75.

keep up the great work and looking forward to many more beautiful cakes.
(ps -- you're already at the point I think you could skip the Wilton classes and just go for special seminars w/ various decorators and advanced schools!)
I agree with Doug! You did WONDERFUL!
As for cost, I'll leave that to some of the others. I'm already seeing I don't charge enough!!!
GREAT JOB!
kaylascakes - stupendous job!!! I second the round of applause....I want to be you when I grow up (and I am 37 )
I will leave the pricing info up to the experts, because I am clueless....but I do agree with the $80.00 range.....wonderful job!
I am so impressed!!!
PLEASE continue with your talent... I can't wait to see what you come up with. Gosh, I would charge $42 for that gorgeous cake, so I better take some lessons from others. Don't underbid yourself! Wonderful work.

What a talented young lady you are!!!
This cake looks totally professional and I had a look at your other photos too. The roses on the 40 cake are beautiful!
I don't know about pricing, but you definitely have a future in the business! All the best to you.
Well done Kayla! I dunno about a price but wanted to tell you that you have a very bright future in cakes hunny! I have 16 years on you and I still can't get it right! Keep it up! We'll be looking for Kayla's swanky bakery in a few short years!

I am sooo jealous. I wish I discovered cake decorating at your age. I was 30 when I started decorating two years ago. All those years wasted! Keep up the great work.
