Does anyone have a recipe for a chocolate malt cake and/or buttercream? DH has requested one for his birthday. If I dig through my disaster of a recipe file, I think I have one in there printed out from Allrecipes or somewhere, but I thought I'd ask the experts first! I'm guessing I could just use a regular recipe and add some malt to it (but I have no idea how much) if necessary...

Take your favvorite choc cake recipe ( a lighter sweeter recipe is better than a dark one) and add 1/4 malt powder. It's usually in the aisle with the nesquick etc.

I made a Malted Milk-Chocolate Cake from a book called "Baking in America" by Greg Patent. It was pretty good, but a little dry and not terribly malty. I like the idea of just chucking some malt into a regular chocolate cake recipe - I may have to try that soon. I LOVE LOVE LOVE chocolate malt!!

Just as an update... today I made the Chocolate Syrup Frosting recipe from this site to put on it, but used part malt powder in place of the cocoa - OMG is it wonderful!! icon_lol.gif Now I just have to decide how to alter my cake. I usually do box mix + an extra egg and pudding (and sub. milk for water). I bought Duncan Hines Swiss Chocolate.
