and I missed you guys! My Mum & Dad's computer connection is very hit and miss so I've been out of the loop for 2 weeks - eeek! Anyhoo, whilst on vacation I made these 2 cakes (yes, even on vacation I can't stop cake decorating!), which I'm excited to share with you guys and gals.

The first is a weeding cake made as our gift for some friends of ours:

Then this is a cake I made for my nephews whose birthdays are in June & November, but I'm never there (I live in a different country), so I did a joint cake for them:

I made both these cakes without any of my cake decorating tools and my mum has none I could borrow either! Thanks for looking thumbs_up.gif

Both look great. How on earth did you manage w/out any of your tools? Doesn't sound like you had too much of a vacation. You'll need another one to recover from the one you just had!! Welcome back!

Thanks Jan! The jewels come strung together and I just pulled them tight around the cake so it was snug and stood up, however, I did put a couple of glass headed pins in here and there in the trim to ensure it stays up for the next 2 weeks until the wedding (and made sure I pointed out where they were to our friends so they can show the caterer)! The trim around the base board I just glued on - it was easier!

My vacation back to the UK is never very relaxing anyway - lots of running around seeing family & friends, so I always come back just as worn out as when I left lol!
