OK... now I feel warm & fuzzy! Thanks!

Cheryl, I started the decorating last night when Annabella & Joseph were in bed.... then after taking them to school/kinder... was back home by 9am... bliss... alone to finish the cake without DD wanting to be my assistant and DS wanting to eat all the fondant... So I listened to my FOX FM Podcasts..... I sort of know what you mean............. although I only have two, so can't even begin to imagine what your house is like!!!

Toni, I love your Hello Kitty cake ! How big is she & what is she made of ?
( Actually, I love all your cakes !! )

Cheryl, you are so lucky to have such a great supportive BF !! Did you find it difficult to meet someone, with all your children ?
Seems everyone tells me that I'll never meet anyone with all my kids ( & I ONLY have 5 !!! ) & that gets pretty depressing... icon_sad.gif

icon_redface.gif on a less personal topic..... haha
Anyone made a Hi-5 cake ? Mias' 2nd birthday is in a month & I'm wracking my brains !!! for a cake idea..

Can't agree with you more ... falling apart all right ... they say it starts after 40 ...

I need help. Made MMF, don't normally but thought it taste better. Needed rich red colour and din't want to buy ready made. Anyhow, made a fair batch and it is all spongy, or crumbly not elastic at all. It goes all crackly when rolled and too soft, stretchy. Bloody hard to explain. But it is not workable. Can make a ball, but I need package bows icon_sad.gif and stripes. Any way to recover????? I guess mixing with Bakels fondant will help, but then the color will faid.

Hi Yana

try adding a little bit of glucose or glycerine to you fondant and work it in. I made a witch yesterday out of some old fondant, and it was crumbling in my hand so i added some glycerine. It made it come together and pliable and smooth. if you add too much just add alittle icing sugar. Hope that helps.

I think you cake looked great but I do like silver better. I have my first wedding cake to do in a couple of weeks and it will be lilac and silver. 2 teir white background with lilac hearts and roses (dusted with lilac luster) and silver cachous and silver bead trim, and I'm pretty nervous. Here is a link to some of the flowers that will be on the cake.

OzCookie: Can you wait another 4 years..... seem to remember something about it being illegal as well as unethical to impersonate a lawyer icon_lol.gif

Jules06: Hang in their, keep positive. I truely believe that there is a soul mate for each and every one of us. I met my BF on aussiematchmaker.com.au.

I was really selective, if they sounded sleazy........ bye... there were no second chances. He sent me three realy nice emails showing his sense of humour, we exchanged phone numbers and had about 30 3 hour phone calls before we meet.

We were both seperated from our partners, both with children, and both were determined that we were never going to fall in love, were not going to spend all our time together, no real commitments or ties. Just 'buddies'

Two months later that all changed for the better. As chance would have it we have discovered that our whole lives we have never lived more than 10 minutes from each other............ even when I was living in NZ for 5 years! And I know he isnt full of it, because it was his mum who put it all together.

Just be yourself and have faith in you, you are worthy of love. thumbs_up.gificon_biggrin.gif
And the right guy will except your kids, warts and all. icon_lol.gif

Oh well off to make and Orange Poppy Seed for best friends birthday tomorrow.

Hey thats cool Tish. The red nail polish looks ok too. I wonder if you might have been better doing it in Cold porcelian then they could have kept it forever. You've of possibly had a better range of colours as you use acrylic paints for cold porcelian. I hope what I am doing looks half as good.

yeah i was thinking that afterwrds, i could have just used fimo or playdough! But its done now! I'm terrified of moving it, what if it breaks?
The bride is a seperate piece to the rest too, the back wheel isnt attached to the front. But it might make it easier to move. Oh i am terrified to move it!
Also does anyone have any good doctored packet choc cake recipes? i need something really solid. Or a very very good recipe for mud cake?

it will be the base for the bike, i'm going to make it kind of long and thinish, like a road but i want to slope it so they ride up the hill into the sunset. I thought a mud cake would be the best for this, i just dont have any good recipes so i was going to doctor a greens packet mix i have. i will be doing a test run to start with anyway, just in case.

Also to attest to the power of internet love, i met my boy in the interweb too, i put my pick up on a site and he saw it, and we got chatting, we were just friends, not looking for anything... well that lasted all of two seconds! it will be 3 years in april! and i moved states to be with him!

that looks unreal Tish. You have done a great job, be very proud of yourself. I do not have the nerve to try anything like this... yet. I am still trying to roll out fondant evenly (and failing miserably I might add!!!!)

Jules I met my DH on ICQ. I wasnt looking for love, had resigned myself to being alone and being happy with my niece and nephew. But then one day when I least expected it, up appeared a private message and we met. he was in sydney, I was in melbourne and before I knew it, I was ensconced in a long distance relationship. We had our first date 2nd August and he moved in with me Christmas of that year. We just celebrated our 3 year anniversay!! The great guys are out there... hope your perfect mate falls into your lap very soon! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

tish i used BD chocolate fudge mix and added instant choc pudding, 4 table spoons of flour and an extra egg. It made the cake denser, but not sure if it's as solid as you need??????

What are you using the cake for?

I think you have done an awesome job on those figures. The bride and groom will be so happy to receive it. When putting the topper on the cake I would dowel where it is going to sit that way it wont fall into the cake.

I have a recipe for mud cake. its very firm, moist and muddy.

gingerkitten your biker couple have turned out really well. The red nail polish seems to have fixed up your problem. If your worried about something falling apart take a fix it kit with you to the wedding. However I think you will find it will be fine. It will all be well and truley dried and solid by the wedding in two weeks. While your all on the subject of internet love I met my partner on ICQ. I had two children he had none. Since then together we have had another one. So for me its two teenagers and a two year old. A delightful mix of ages.

Lilis why don;'t you try rolling between 2 rulers just to get you stated with getting your fondant one thickness and you can use a level to make sure.

icon_cry.gif I love romance !! WOW !! thanks guys for inspiring me re relationships on the internet ( I am on RSVP at the mo' ) - keeping my fingers crossed icon_biggrin.gif

Tish, I think your biker topper is fantastic !! Are your figures just going to be sitting on the bike or are you going to glue them on ? ( edible glue,of course!)
If they are kept in a box or container in a dark, cool place afterwards, there's no reason why they wouldn't last for years - like porcelain.

Toni, have fun at kinder camp !! icon_wink.gif

Jules i will glue them into place with a little royal icing i think, i am going to make up a grey royal icing and... paint... the bikers pants as its really cracked and his legs kinda, well split right up the crotch! so i think that might cover up any imperfections!

I hope you find love, but untill then you have all that love to give to your kids and its better to be happy and alone than to be with a man who makes you miserable.
I have my fingers crossed for you too xx

I am sorry Jules I did not suggest that modeling paste would not last a long time but I had an experience that I don't want to have again. I recreated a Thomas the Tank Engine complete with carriages for a 2 year olds birthday and his mother a cake decorater told me that they just melted. I have never had that sort of experience before and wouldn't like anyone else to have the same thing happen. I tried again to do it in cold porcelian but its too hard as the porcelian shrinks. I do have a theroy of why it melted but I have to believe the mother she is my nephews wife. I believe that an older brother did it as he is a very jealous little boy. But he is not my nehpew he is her son from a previous relationship. that was 2 years ago now.
