Mist them?

Why do you want shiny buttercream roses? I'm just curious.

I just loved the effect it has on the look of the cake. I've seen on in the gallery and the roses are smooth with a gloss/sheen to them. They looked beautiful with a glow. I'm just curious as to how you achieve this effect.

The cakes in the Whimsical Bakehouse book all look shiny wet. The WBH buttercream recipe is on here in the recipe section.

I know what you're talking about - it does look neat. icon_smile.gif

I recently posted about how to use pearl dust on BC roses and was told it is possible to dust bc roses with dusts- but to keep them frozen so they are easier to handle.

I haven't tried this yet though- but if you use shimmer or pearl dust- it might give you that shiny look.

I have the Whimsical Bakehouse book right next to me- I've been reading it tonight- and I will definitely agree that the meringue type bc seems to give the roses that shiny look.HTH icon_smile.gif

I think you're talking about Thanh Thanh's cakes.

This is what she said in another thread, when asked how she gets them so shiny.

Yes, I used Vodka mix with in small bottle, then put it into Air brusch machine's gun and spray whole cake to make it look shimmer. Don't afraid about taste behind, the vodka will evaporate, nobody know what you used. I used this way on the baby cakes too, nothing happen with them.

Chavezce, I think everybody on CC still wanna learn more and more, me too, so don't be embarassed to post your cakes, we're sharing what we know

Have a good day,

Thanh Thanh
