I've just been thinking of the *possibility* of arranging a 'play day' - - -anyone interested?

We could get together just to talk OR have a lesson or two.

I'm a *very frustrated* decorator who had to give up my business for my hubby to take a job.....

I'm definitely in. I'd volunteer my house but I'm getting my kitchen remodeled right now.

I wanted to do just as you suggested so I made a website www.selfservebaker.com/fresnocakeclub so us locals could share ideas and get together.

Of course you all know to remove spaces and use signs instead of the wordsicon_smile.gif

WOW icon_smile.gif I had NO idea there would be so many.
I'm thinking of late this month.
I am living in a **very!** remote area of the high Sieras - the drive for me to V is 5 hrsicon_smile.gif
I'll ck w/my daughter if we can use her home and let everyone know.
As for what could we do - what does everyone want? B'cream roses? gumpaste? Basic icing of cake? Something I haven't mentioned? I'm open to most anything that everyone would have the tools for.
I've been decorating for over 25 yrs. Can cover many different techniques. I don't have much in the way of equipment w/me but we'll see what we can do.

kakeladi if we can wait a little bit I would be more than happy to host everyone at my house in my NEW kitchen! I have a hobart mixer (I think it is 10 quarts... not sure, I can make 3 double batches of frosting in it at a time!) and I have a lot of cake supplies and a double oven. My contractor is really working fast and getting a lot done quickly. He's only been working on it a week and he already replaced the window, took out a window, took out the counter and sink and plumbed for a new sink (I'll have TWO sinks).

I'm a teacher so later in the month is better than earlier. Actually early/mid October would be best so that I can survive the start of the school year.

Maybe each person could bring something (not a whole cake) that would be a sampling of what they consider their specialty.

I'm in Visalia - I'd offer my house but there would not be enough room. I already know how to make gumpaste/fondant/buttercream roses...I don't know about anyone else. Since you've had over 25 years experience, why not offer some of the best tricks you've acquired when it comes to smoothing buttercream and stuff like that? A lot of people on CC seem to have troubles with their buttercream.

My time here in CA is limited. I will be returning to IN as soon as it starts to snow in the high Sierras which could be anywhere from mid Sept to early Nov. That's why I was thinking the end of Aug.
I'll be posting if & when as soon as I can.

Hey thanks but.... that's not why I posted them. I thought it might be fun to work on with some other people and it uses easy to accquire stuff or stuff you already have! icon_lol.gif We also could have a fondant making party.... making the real stuff! not satin ice or wilton or even mmf! Or maybe playing with figure molding..... or ummmm....

Hey we could maybe do it at my house..... if I could get it cleaned up... and get rid of DH and the kids!!! icon_lol.gif I have a great room that we could shove the couches out of the way and we would have plenty of room to set up folding tables...... It is like 28 feet by 13 feet and another foyer area that is like 10 by 10 and the same room! It is all right off the kitchen (open to it!)

I sent Marthajo a pm asking her to call me today as I'm in V today only.
What day of the week is best for each of you?
I thought a Monday or Tues since most people order for the wknd but I can be any day everyone can agree on.
I 1st thought late Aug but we can hold off until sometime in the 1st 1/2 of Sept....like the 15th or 16th? Please let me know so we can get it scheduled and everyone can make their plans....

That is a good idea, we could each share something we enjoy doing. Depending on how many people want to come maybe we should have a couple of people do that and then that gives us an excuse to get together again... so someone else can have a turn icon_smile.gif

If we try and find something that not all of us already knows how to do then we won't get anything. I'm assuming we are all at varying levels. So why not do something like frosting buttercream... we could all bring a cake and our frosting. Even if we are great we might pick up a new trick and be able to help some newbies.

I would love to learn the bubblegum roses. I actually don't know how to make fondant roses... never took the 3rd class.

But even if we already know the topic it would be fun to get together and play with other cake people!
