I have been scouring the websites...trying to find all the get legal info, and I just cant seem to figure it out. I know that MD does NOT license home bakerys, but do you just rent out a kitchen? How did you find it? What do you have to do legality wise to do that? Thanks!!!

I am curious as well. I have also been searching the web attempting to get an answer with no success.
Anyone who has info, it would be greatly appreciated.
actually, you can be a home baker in MD, but ther are a lot of "hoops" to jump throught o be legal, including having a separate kitchen in your house and becoming certified in food sanitation.
I think there are a few threads on this... I'll see if I can find one fo ryou.
Contact your county's heatlh dept. I'm in Montgomery and I would have to find a licensed kitchen to use. You will also need a food manager license (I took the class, food service sanitation, at the community college). If you're selling wholesale, you would need to get a license through the state. I spoke to Robin Henderon at the Maryland Dept of Health and Mental Hygiene; she was helpful but still told me to contact county health dept. Her number is 410-767-8444. Hope this helps.
having a separate kitchen kind of sets you apart, since most people really aren't in a position to do that . . . . lol. (wondering where to put a 2nd kitchen in a townhouse . . . lol)
BUT - this is something I'm keeping in mind when building a new house . . . even thinking of putting seperate small building on the property to be used as a business kitchen/sales area.
