Rookie Needs Help- 3D House Pan

help!!
this is my 2nd attempt at trying to bake in the wilton 3d house pan.
the first time I filled the pan too high- and it over flowed, made a burnt mess in my oven, and I had to just stop. (i didn't want the smoke alarm to wake my baby!)
anyway- today- I made the white cake recipe from this website and filled it up according to the directions. It is STILL overflowing, taking forever (45 min +) to bake... and the center of the cake sunk in when I tested it with a wooden pick!!!!

I have only baked and decorated cupcakes, sheet cakes, and round bowls. I have NO IDEA what I am doing wrong here!!!
can someone help me or give some tips!?!

Some of the 3D pans are pretty thin metal, and will bake faster than a heavier pan, so you definitely need to reduce your heat at least to 325, and bake for a longer time in the center of your oven.

Also, since you are having a problem, try it with a flower nail in the middle, be sure to coat it like you do your pan. If you have the oven baking strips, those might also help keep the outside from baking before the center.

I always put a cookie sheet or foil under my pans just in case of overflow like that, saves some cleaning up. HTH Janice

I've made that pan too, the first time was a disaster, the second a sucess! I used an all-in-one cake recipe the second time and a flower nail, it rose perfectly and I could level the cake in the pan! If you want the recipe, just pm me, I have it saved as a PDF file. Good luck!
