Hi everyone can someone help me with this, I am so frustrated.
I have seen the method here on cake central on how to perfectly ice a round cake, but can someone help me with a square cake or a cake with sides. I cannot get the sides square enough or evenly smoothed.

I'm convinced there is no perfect way to do a square cake! It is very hard for me. tcturtleshell said to build up extra forsing on the corners an dthis has helped. I know this questions comes up a lot and I know others can answer it better than me. Hopefully they can help us both!

Why can't you use the round cake method? Seems to me like it might work.

I think it was m0use or Lisa (?) who sent in a post on this, with a detailed diagram on how to do it. Very helpful once I got it through my brain!
Will have to search now for it as I saved it someplace...if only I could remember where! icon_smile.gif:

I agree...adding extra icing in the corners seems to help me. I wait at least an hour for it to set, then I get parchment paper and smooth is out evenly.

Jackie, did you remove this post?  I'd sure like to see what that link used to show!  Thanks.
