Help! I am making a fire truck cake for one of our fire stations on Monday and need black for outlining. I have used the Wilton black in the tube in the past, but wondered if I could get some advice on black icing that would actually taste good. I will be doing the truck itself with cream cheese icing. I would also like to find some way to simulate the chrome ..... any ideas?

Thank you SO much in advance.

for black buttercream, start with chocolate buttercream and add black colour to it. By starting with a brown base, you need to add less colour/have a better taste.

You can make black from white buttercream. It is easier to do in smaller amounts. Just add black until you get a deep gray and then let it sit. As it sits it will darken up to black.

For chrome you could use silver luster dust.

Use Americolor super black, it is the only "black" that is truely black and not grey, brown, or purple! Americolor colors rules!!! thumbs_up.gificon_razz.gificon_biggrin.gif
