Hi Everyone!

Once again I come to you in Desperate need for Advice. I am getting ready to make a huge cake for our BX Burger King Kids Bingo this month. Well it's going to be Cinderella Themed and I am going to of course make a Cinderella Doll. I will be making the carriage on top of the 2 Sheet cakes and Cinderella Standing beside it. My question is this....I know suspense killing you for me to just ask huh? Ok here it goes finally. How do I make a patteren to make her dress? I want it to look as true to form as possible and I will be using the MMF. My good friend who provides entertainment for parties talked me into doing this seeing as to how she is going to be Cinderella and the kids can have their Pictures taken with her. I am providing the Cake Free of charge as a form of Advertisement and handing out my card with every slice of cake served. So if any of you have directions or advise or the pattern PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP...I"m on my knees begging icon_cry.gif please help. You guys are phenominal here and I love this site. Another thing that I was thinking about doing as another form of advertisement is...Cake balls dipped in white candy melts colored orange and have vines painted on them for the pumpkin look for when the pumpkin is turned into the Carriage...what do you think? To much? Should I put them on the cake or all around it? ok let me know your honest oppinions.

I really like your idea with the small pumpkins, but do you know how much of them do you need? If a lot of people are coming, i think I would only do some and place them around the cake, just for decoration and for advertisement use your cards.

For the dress, I just cut pieces while decorating without any pattern ( a try and error number ...)

Really looking forward seeing the cake.

I'm not for sure how many people will be there but we are talking at least 150 if not more. It will start at 530 at night so that will be putting it right at dinner time for alot of Working and Non Working military members and This is being held in the Food Court so EVERYONE will be having cake. We have 4 different eating areas plus an Icecream place not to mention the Entrance to the main store so I am thinking Totally doing the pumpkins around the cake as decoration...so now what do you think and any more advice on the cutting out the fondant for the patteren?

Just do the pumpkins as decoration, so you can go on advertising with your cards, if more people come ( even when the cake has been eaten icon_biggrin.gif). Good luck with the pattern.

Tammy, I guess the first thing I'd do is find a photo of the dress I wanted to use as a pattern (maybe see what kind of dress your friend will be wearing) and go from there.

You will mostly have to do the skirt, and it should be done in sections, just like you were going to sew it together, at least that is what it appears to me (I've never done a doll cake) but I used to sew a lot.) If you can't get a pic from your friend, check out coloring book pages that are available online, maybe even Disney.com, there should be a pic there to work from. Hope this helps a little. Janice

Hey Janice Thanks. I do indeed have pictures of the dress if you would like to see it or any of you would like to see it just let me know and I'll email you the Cinderella Dress with Cinderella in it. Thanks for the tip about doing it like Sewing...Now I only wish that I would have paid more attention when I used to sew

Here's a doll that a little girl would play with
I did a google search and could not find what you would need; does your BX have a fabrics and craft area where they would have patterns for Halloween costumes? You take the smallest children's pattern and shrink it down to your needs.

Lil' Sis...

Are you doing the doll as a stand up doll or flat on the sheet cake?? If it's flat just draw the dress out, make the fondant thick, shape the fondant out & over lap each piece of the dress to give it the 3-D look, then put it on the cake. What is the face, hair, arms, slippers going to be made of? BC or fondant too? I wish I were there to help you out on this one! This is going to be fun!

Just read your post again. So the doll will be standing next to the cake? Do it the same way I said above. YOu have done lots a doll cakes so this should be VERY EASY for you! IM me girl!

Tammy sent me the photo of her friend in her dress, it is very simple and pretty (the friend is pretty too). I also went to look at Tammy's cakes, she has already done some beautiful doll cakes, so I don't think she will have a problem making this one!

You go, Tammy, you make great cakes! Janice

I just want it to look as true to the actual dress as possible. Janice, Thank you so much for giving me the Boost of Confidence that I need to do this cake! I don't know what I would do without this Site and the People that are members here!

Treat this like you do every doll cake-one step at a time-I know it's nerve wracking knowing the whole base will have access to this cake and it is your advertisement (GUARANTEED TO GET SEVERAL ORDERS OFF THIS THERE'S ALWAYS A PARTY ON A MILITARY BASE!! hubbie USAF RET>) but you have done marvelous cakes and this will just add to the collection-use the same colors as the Live doll and just go from there-YOU WILL DO GREAT!!! And don't forget to post the pictures!!
