Hi.
I just used royal icing for the first time and really liked it. I used a CK Products mix and just had to add the water. (I did throw in a little vanilla too). I really liked the taste and would like to use it again. I have heard that royal icing "sucks" the moisture right out of the cookie? That it dries your cookies right up. Is that really true??? If it was, I can't understand why people would use it?

I do not want crispy cookies. I like making cut outs that are firm, yet when you bite in, it is a nice soft cookie. I normally use a powdered sugar glaze that dries hard and is really tasty, but I was so impressed with the shine on the royal cookies that I'd like to try it. If tried the tips on making sure your powdered sugar glaze stays shiny, but that is easier said than done. Please share your thoughts and/or tips on using royal.

Thanks!!!

Royal is evil! See my signature! icon_lol.gif

Royal will keep the cookie soft. Most posters here use Antonia's version of royal, it firms up enough to stack and wrap but doesn't dry rock hard. Use what works for you!
