Just read this thread today, even tho I have been a member for several months. I always felt bad that not one person left a message of any kind, good or bad. After this thread I looked up my forum info....sure enough had the comments turned off. Oh boy, do I feel stupid. I do try to leave messages for others because I know for me that is encouragemnt.
Everyone here on this site is soo nice and helpful. I am truely addicted!!

I'm a newbie, been on this website a few months. Today I finally figured out how to download my pictures. I took me a few hours to figure out how to make them smaller, and also how to put a watermark on them. I've been reading that alot of people have had their pics taken and passed off as others peoples work (on other websites). I'm just excited I finally got my pics up.

I am a newbie, and never take offense when others do not comment on my cakes. I just get excited period! when other cc'ers view my pics, which shows me something about the cake interested them enough to look at them. My cakes are not perfect (Yet), as I am still learning. I will never be worried about others commenting on my pics. But I will be sure as a courtesy to make comments on the pics that I view.

Great information.

Good idea to post this thread. I dip in and out of the site, and there is so much to look at, you really couldn't comment on them all, but that is not to say that all photos posted are not appreciated.

If someone comments on my photos, I think that they have been incredibly considerate in taking the time to do that when looking through such vast numbers of pics.

Thanks to all posters and browsers alike.

Hello, I'm a newbie too. I just came across this thread and I just have to add my voice to all others. I bless the day I stumbled across CakeCentral cos I was at a crossroads icon_confused.gif as per what next to do in fulfilling my dream of having a successful cake business and VOILA ! icon_surprised.gif Here comes a place where any questions I ask can be answered by thousands of people of diverse experiences in cake making and decorating . Cake Central deserves an award thumbs_up.gif for empowering people to live their cake dreams and though I'm in far away Africa(Nigeria) I hope someday to meet fellow cakecentrallers at an event organized specifically for cakecentrallers from all over the world. Its a great honour to be counted as one of you and I do hope to be able over time to contribute as relevantly as all of you do icon_wink.gif . Big Kudos to all organizers of cake central, thanks for having me!! Stay Blessed!!!

I too am new to CC and I love it. I have been decorating cakes for 20 years or so and have learnt so much in the last few weeks by looking at the other cakes and articles. My head is spinning with ideas.
I also like to get comments on my cakes but its not the end of the world if I don't. I think they are good anyway even if the rest of the world doesn't! LOL. icon_lol.gif
I also enjoy the humour within some of the forum posts. I find myself laughing hysterically at some of the comments. icon_lol.gif

Thank you for a great website. thumbs_up.gif

I am a "newbie" also and would like to say that this site is so helpful. When I first became interested in cake decorating (inspired by my daughter) I bought a least 6 cake decorating books and thought that everything in them was so advanced. Today, while looking through some of these books, I was amazed how much I have learned and see some of these books of being too easy for me now. By far, I have learned more from this site than from any book I have bought. Again, thanks to all of you that so generously share your expertise. icon_biggrin.gif

I just want to say I absolutely love this site. I never thought I would get into cake decorating. Now I have people at work asking me to make cakes almost every week. The forums, guidelines and the inspiration I get from looking at the galleries helps tremendously. Although my techniques are no where near what so many of the members here have, I see them as inspirations and goals to attain.

Thank you for having this site and a place for us to learn and share.

Hello,

I just got an account a couple of days ago so I am truly a newbie. I've only commented on one cake myself and made only one other post aside from this one.

I've been looking for the right forum space to "introduce myself". I guess I'm used to the ivillage model where people just start thread to introduce themselves. I haven't seen a place like that here so I figured this was the best spot.

thanks for the tips about comments. I won't be offended! Right now I am working full time and finishing up a graduate school night class so I can't bake any cakes, but I've registered for the intro wilton cake decorating class in April, and plan to take all four classes. I'll definitely be posting pics of my practice cakes! as well as other cakes that I bake for family and friends over the coming year.

Let me just say I've only ever baked two cakes in my life, just three weeks ago. But I felt so alive when doing so that I feel like I've found a new lifetime passion in cake decorating.

I look forward to learning as much as I can from everyone, and sharing things I may learn along the way, too. I can attest that this sight is VERY addictive!

Hi all ! I am a Newbie here! I had been looking up ideas, things and learning from all different pictures, forums & posts for about the past 1-2 months and just this week I thought, gee I should join so I can ask/post too! This site is FABULOUS and what a great group of people seem to frequent it! I could literally spend hours reading over posts...

I love to look at all the beautiful cakes in the galleries. I have such a looong way to go. I haven't commented on any yet really, from me it would be the same thing "wow, gorgeous cake" over and over.

Cakes is a sort of new hobby for me, sort of accidental, not hindered by the fact that there happens to be a million cake shows on TV now to fuel my interest and curiosity. I don't think I'll be doing cakes as a side business any time soon (plus I live in FL!), but this site is a WEALTH of inspiration, encouragement, lessons, and tips for self-learning about all things cake. There are so many little things to learn along the way, some I 've discovered by trial and error, but even better to read up on it and figure it out before I get there.
~ Any way, thanks for all the great stuff everyone contributes to make this a great site-- my newest addiction! And thanks for all the help for the NEWBIES just learning their way around the site ~ thumbs_up.gificon_redface.gif
