For those of you who can't contain yourselves, you'll notice I spelled out theme!! icon_wink.gif Love you guys, you sicko's!!

Anyway... here we are, getting close to August, so we are going to take some suggestions for the theme. First of all, I'd like to tell you all what fun this has been for me, and I hope you feel the same. I think we've really found a cool thing to do here.

I also want to stress, THIS IS NOT A CAKE CLUB!! I've had a few questions about it, or people have referred to it as 'cake club', but I want to be sure everyone knows it's for ALL edible mediums. (I'm still trying to figure out how to incorporate a fudge sculpture without eating it first!!) It's not that I mind anyone calling it that name, it's just that it might discourage some people because they are into cookies, candy, etc. SO STOP IT!! Haha! Just kidding! But I'm sure you see my point! icon_wink.gif

Next I'd like to remind you, when you make your suggestions, again put them in a string of ****asterisks**** so it's clear what you are suggesting! We will take suggestions for a few days, then vote for a day or two, then the winner will be announced. As always, I will be linking to each new thread in the current thread(s).

I'd also like to implore you to take a break from the norm and stretch your brain for these ideas! I know the traditional idea that will crop up for August, or even September, is back-to-school or something like that. While I do see that as a neat idea, it's been done a lot, so we're going to try to depart from that idea. Let's find things that are outside the box so to speak!

SO, congratulations on some serious talent this month, I can't wait to see what we come up with next!

Questions? Start here:
http://forum.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-352603-theme.html+month+faq
Or PM me!!!

My suggestion: *****Heroes*****

This can encompass everyday heroes, superheroes, people you look up to... anything you can think of!

Melvira - you are doing a fantastic job moderating Theme OTM. I have really enjoyed all of the Harry Potter chatter.

*****SPACE*****

August 7 - scheduled launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour for mission STS-118.

August 28 - Total lunar eclipse.

August 30-September 3 - The 65th World Science Fiction Convention will take place in Yokohama, Japan.

Gina, thank you very much!!! icon_redface.gif You're very kind!

Ok, we've got some awesome suggestions so far... let's see what else we get, and let's see if we get some of them seconded, which will narrow down the process dramatically! Today is the 24th, let's hope by the 26th or 27th we have a few clear leaders!!

Thanks for playing along guys!

I'll second the ****toys and games****

I have a question too. Are we going to do a poll again to vote? I'm asking because both the Harry and patriotic threads don't have nearly as many pics as people who voted. It's very easy to just push a button so maybe the voting thread should be set up kind of like this where you have to type in one of the choices that's given. Just an idea.

I totally understand what you're saying, and I did mention last month that I was going to be torqued if 200 people voted and we had 15 pictures. We are going to give the poll option another go this month, and if we find it to be troublesome, we can consider another option. The only reason I was trying the poll idea was so that there was no question about the counting. I'm glad you brought this up though, because I'd like to encourage people to participate in more than just the voting process! Obviously things come up and occasionally you end up not being able to do something you wanted due to time constraints, but you know what I'm saying! icon_wink.gif

I will bake/post this weekend, if I can hobble around enough to do so. Stupid broken foot. icon_sad.gif

I'm thinking of doing a golden snitch, in honor of HP's birthday. (Funny thing is I was planning to do so before...)

It won't be as spectacular as all of the gorgeous fondant cakes, because I'm not nearly as talented or artistic. It'll be all BC, and I'm thinking it won't be luster-dusted either.

Edited to add:

I second/third the suggestion for

Redpanda... that's totally what I'm talking about! I'm guessing you weren't planning OR trying to break that poor little foot of yours!! (What did it ever do to you?!?) hahah! So I know that we will NEVER have as many entries as votes. Life intervenes sometimes! icon_wink.gif I can't wait to see your snitch. I bet it will be a LOT better than you think!

My son wants to make snitch cakeballs. Hopefully, he will find time to do it.

The funny thing about my foot is that I don't seem to be getting along all that well with it lately. In April, I broke off about half the nail on the big toe (in martial arts), and then in June I broke the little toe (in martial arts). This time, I slipped on a piece of gravel that had somehow gotten onto my front steps and broke a small bone in the same foot. I think it is ready to file for divorce for domestic abuse.

I am new here. But, I would like to know if you have had a "Tribute" theme to the soldiers in IRAQ. My son is a soldier and will probaby be headed there next year. I know a lot of other sites are dedicated to this, but I am a mom and that's the first thing I think of.
