Here are some of the flowers I've made for my granddaughter's wedding cake. I still have more to go, but looking for honest opinions please.

Thanks,
Sandra

Thanks everyone. I've made about 18 roses and 12 calla lillies. I still have stephanotis and leaves to make. The wedding is August 4. I'm liking my roses better, but I'm not in the league with several of our very talented designers on CC yet! More work, more work!!

I started to answer this and lost my message! icon_confused.gif Anyway, thanks for your kind comments. I continue to struggle to make realistic roses and it drives me insane!! icon_cry.gif These are my best so far, but I have a long way to go to equal some of my favorite designers: tutugirl, Godiva, ShirleyW, Heavenlycakes, Fairytale, to name a few. There are so many talented designers on CC that give great inspiration. I am looking forward to a class I'm taking in November from Lori Ann Blethen at www.wildflowersbylori.com. Check out her work if you haven't already. She's amazing!

Nicsnala99, the flowers are made from gumpaste and I have a rose petal veiner that gives the texture.

Msauer, you and I know that there is no such thing as a "formerbuckeye". Once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye! icon_wink.gificon_wink.gif

Thanks again,
Sandra

OMG!!!! Your taking a class from Lori Anne Blethen? You are soooooo lucky! I'm sure you'll do brilliantly! I really wish I could take a class from her. You'll have to post your creations after the class.

BTY, I'm glad you like my work. That was very sweet of you to mention me. Good job on your flowers.

Erika, I bought arium lilly cutters from Berly's. First, you make the stamen out of yellow gumpaste; roll out a thin log about 2" long, put glue on a wire, push it into the stamen and let dry for a day. Once it's dry, put glue on about the top 2/3 and then roll in either sugar or corn meal. Roll the white gumpaste pretty thin and cut out the bract. Soften and frill the edges. Put glue on the left lower side about 3/4" up from the bottom and roll that side around the stamen. Do the same to the right side. Once the flower dries, brush yellow petal dust inside the throat of the flower. They're really pretty easy. The next time, I will make the stamens thinner and also roll the white paste thinner.

Those are great!! I agree with msauer. You should move back to the buckeye state and give me a few lessons. I've been trying to work with fondant. I think I have changed my mind about using fondant on the wedding cake I am doing in August
