After ordering my copper 325 watt Kitchenaid mixer Saturday, I came home that evening to find a flyer in the mail from JC Penney. Starting Wednesday July 25, the Cooks Commercial 5 Qt mixer will be $149.99. Regular price is $299.99. Prices effective 7/25-8/1

I am trying to research comparisons of the KA Artisan and the Cooks Commercial, but in the meantime, anyone have any input? I'm wondering if this is a better deal because of the 700 watt motor vs the KA 325 watts. Does watts= mixing power? Does the cooks motor hold up well?

Right now I have a Sunbeam that is either 325 or 350 watts. Works great with cake batter, BC, but really has to work with the NFSC recipe. It does not have a paddle mixer, it is the 2 little mixers (like on a hand held). Also, the beaters on the sunbeam are stationary, and the bowl rotates. Wondering how the Cooks mixes - like the KA, or Sunbream?

What are the beaters/paddles on the Cooks made of? Ads say they are non stick. Hopefully they mean metal with non stick coating and not plastic, right?

I just saw the same ad and was wondering the same thing! I have a KA 325 and Professional 600. I like the KA's but my Prof 6 is in my opinion loud...of course I would never part w/it! icon_biggrin.gif If I find any good info I'll reply back. epinions.com offers some good consumer opions/ratings.

Well - I went to epinions.com and didn't find anything. I bit the bullet based on other threads here on CC and bought two - yes two. I used them for the first time Friday and love them. They come w/enclosed pouring shield so no dust fly up and are just as efficient as my KA's. The bowls are 5qt so they are smaller than the KA Professional 6 but the same size as my other KA...not a big deal.

There is another thread on these mixers somewhere on CC you should check out.
