Please tell me what you charge for cake balls (truffles). They will be chocolate cake with mini chocolate chips, nuts and coconut dipped in candy melts. Thanks a bunch!
Hey Samsgranny! How ya doin' tonight?
Mine are the basic vanilla/choc. dipped in candy melts so adjust your price according to your ingredients, but when I added everything together for a 11x15 cake, p. sugar, coffee creamer, and candy melts I came up with $4.95. So I multiplied that by 3 and got $14.85. I rounded up to 15.00. I can get 43-45 cake balls from an 11x15.
Long story made short -- I sell them in a box of 45 for $15.00
Hey folks out there in CC land- am I close with the price or did I just send Sams in the wrong direction? I have been selling ALOT at this price so I am wondering if I am to cheap or if they are just so darn good?
Hmmmm...to me that sounds low. I have made them, but never sold them, however! They are quite time consuming. What do you charge for an 11x15? Maybe something between the 2 figures? Also would depend on what size they are...
That sounds low to me also. I haven't made them yet (if I keep trying new recipes, pretty soon I won't have any clothes that fit! ), but I've read quite a few posts about pricing, and there are quite a few people who sell them for $1 each, IIRC.
It sounds like a ton of work to make 45 cake balls for only $10.00 profit (if you figured in the electricity used in making the cake, washing the dishes, etc, it's really even less than $10). How much time do you have invested in a batch (mixing, baking the cake, washing the pan and equipment, mixing up the cake balls, dipping, putting in a box, etc)? Did you include the cost of the box? Do you use cupcake papers to put them in before boxing?
I think you could charge quite a bit more, esp. for the poster who is adding nuts and other "expensive" ingredients!
Laura.
