I know this is a little early to be asking, but I am looking for the ornament recipe that you use to make as a kid and the ornament would last forever. I think it is something like: flour, baking soda and water? TIA

He told me I bake the best cookies! LOL we still have a gingerbread man with a bite out of him......I think we'll keep it like that for good LOL He's the only one that survived.......well he kind of did

We make these every year. They are nice and smooth kinda like ceramic.

2 cups baking soda
1 cup cornstarch
1 1/4 cups cold water

Stir together the baking soda and the cornstarch in a saucepan until it is all mixed up. Add the water and mix it again. cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture looks like moist mashed potatoes. Carefully pour it onto waxed paper and cover with a damp cloth. Allow the dough to cool. Roll out to desired thickness and cut out shapes with cookie cutters. Air dry to harden.

I do the cinnamon cut-0ut ornaments too. The dough for this is equal parts applesauce and cinnamon. LOTS of cinnamon! LOL Cut like sugar cookies and bake on low oven heat for hours and hours. Poke holes for string/ribbon/hooks before baking. They smell wonderful!
