I need to do a half sheet cake with dogs on it for a kid birthday party. My problem....

ALL of the dog images I can find are copyrighted, and I can't sell the cake if I use them!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

What do I do? I can't draw!!

What kind of dogs do you need for your cake? Do they need to be cartoons, real dogs, or can they be drawings like from a colouring book? And how were you planning on putting them on the cake; edible image?, FBCT ?, colourflow? You may be able to find dogs on online colouring pages. If I can help, PM me.

I was thinking coloring pages on line or a coloring book.

What type of method are you hoping to use for the image (edible image, fbct, chocolate transfer, etc)?

If you want to do an edible image, you could find someone with a dog and take the picture yourself!

Let us know more about what you want to do, and we'll help you make it happen! icon_smile.gif

This is so irritating....anything printed would be copywrited - right? I mean, even the coloring pages ( great idea, BTW ). I have a bunch of scrapbooking books with graphics that are perfect for kids cakes but I guess those won't work either.....

I admire your ethics... I really do. thumbs_up.gif As long as it wasn't Disney/Nick Jr. etc, I just wouldn't worry that much about it.

I was thinking FBCT or chocolate transfer. I tried searching drawing, clip art, coloring pages, etc. But every stinking one of them has copyright info. They all say for personal use only. I can't draw. My husband usually can, but he ended up cussing and throwing away a lot of paper this morning trying to do dogs for me.

I just need a bunch of dogs or puppies for this little girl's cake. They weren't specific, but I'm thinking if they are cute puppies/dogs, she'll be happy. I just have no clue how to go about it now.

I've got a wedding cake due the same day, so I was hoping to get this part done tomorrow and Monday night. I also have a tasting Wednesday....don't know how I'm going to get this all done. I have to clean my house for this tasting sometime! (At least DH can help with that...)

TIA to all of you, I really appreciate it!

this site actually has instructions on how to print out their images, so I would think it would be ok to use any of them. right???

newtodecorating:

they have a copyright at the bottom, saying not to sell or include as part of a package for sale.

I finally got my DH to slightly alter some images for me. Plus, they will be mirror imaged on purpose so they aren't that person's actual art. I think that covers me.

I want to thank all of you, you've been really helpful and I really appreciate it. I'll make sure I stay on top of the forums so if I ever have any way of helping you guys, I'll be there to do it. You're the BEST!!!

The site you refer to does have a copyright policy. But serioulsy who would know. Also if you are that worried about it. Print the picture out and get hubby to alter it. Then its not the same picture.
But it is a great site, I came across it while I was looking for palm trees. I thought mine looked okay then hubby asked why I had pine trees on a beach. So figured I best find a picture.

Well, here is the cake in question. The girls mom loved it. Hopefully I'll get some business out of it, she said she'd refer me to the other moms.
