if you have time I would use the americolor navy blue .. you never need very much coloring and the colors are so vibrant ...

what's not very much? I bought americolors and i'm not getting the results I think I should. However, I really didn't have much experience with wilton before, maybe i just don't have much to compare it to. Do you let your colors sit before using and how long? Thanks!

hmmm well I know that when my colors do sit they always darken, but even just a few drops of americolor and I usually get good results on the color I want. I always use americolor super black and it really only takes a few drops to go from white to black .. Im not sure what else to say I dont want to lead you in the wrong direction icon_sad.gif but I seem to get good results .. im sorry about the problems youre having ....

I know that this doesn't make sense, but I work at a bakery and they tubs of frosting are "Brilliant" Pink and "Brilliant Blue". I mix equal parts and get a beautiful color. I also sometimes add a streak of straight blue color to the bag before I put the frosting in. It takes a while for the true blue to set, but when it does it's really pretty.

with the Wilton, if it comes out gray you added too much black. Add some more blue in. It's kind of a mixing game and you hope you win. Some colors are great in Wilton, but I like my americolor too. icon_biggrin.gif

I'm sure the Americolor one works good, but when that is not available to me, I use royal blue, violet, a touch of black and to maintain the blue and not get it so dull with the black, I also add a sky blue to brighten it up. It ends up a real pretty sapphire color. Be careful, though because as buttercream darkens, it might look black if you add too much paste.
