Do I have to bake it in a bundt pan like it calls for? I really need a good rum cake recipe that is done in a regular pan for a groom's cake.

I don't see why you COULDN'T use a flat pan.
One thing, though--I'd try to make two THINNER layers, instead of one THICK layer. That crust is a big thing on the rum cake, and it may not rise up as well without a lot of "browning" area.
