Ok . . . I have been diligently searching the forums for recipes as an alternative to the ready to use rolled fondant that wilton makes. I've narrowed down to two;

MMF (recipe on this site)

Wilton recipe for rolled fondant (on Wilton's Site)

Could you guys sound in on which one you like best? I'm looking for taste, but more importantly I'm looking for ease of use because I am very much a novice.

Your comments are MUCH appreciated . . . I need to go shopping later today.

Wilton fondant tastes horrible! MMF is a real sweet taste and is quite tasty. Fondant is chewy and most people don't like the texture.

I have made the rolled fondant from Toba Garrett's book, and it was as good tasting as fondant can be - not sickly sweet and easy to use.

I'm wondering about the Wilton recipe too - anyone out there tried it? How does it compare to MMF? I use MMF all the time and love it....but would be willing to try the Wilton recipe too.....

Hema, I will e-mail the instructions to you. I would highly recommend Toba Garrett's book, "The Well Decorated Cake" not only for the inspiring cakes, but her recipes also.

MomLittr, Deb,

Will you e-mail me the fondant instructions too? I will look into getting the book for Toba Garrett, "The Well Decorated Cake". I do not have time to wait for shipping but will get it. Please send me the fondant recipe and instructions. I have tried all of the above! This is a new one for me and I am still looking for one as good as Satin Ice but affordable. I really appreciate your shearing.

I actually tried the Wilton fondant and it tasted good to me. Much better than the ready to use. I've never made the marshmallow fondant so i can't compare the two. I use almond flavoring instead of vanilla and i think that helped with the taste. I suppose you could try other flavors too. I think i am going to try some other flavors and see how they taste.

MomLittr, Deb,

Thank you for the fondant instructions. I love the Toba Garrett rolled fondant, I tried it on my bottom cake board 3x 20" and it came out fantastic. There was no sticking, no cracking, it rolled out easy and my friend and I had no problems carrying it from my rolling tabel to the bottom cake board. I came out smooth as silk! I love you and cannot thank you enough. IMHA the taste and texture is way above anything I have tried before. My Son is getting married Sept. 14 so I will use Toba Garrett fondant on it for sure. I could go on and on! I have truly tried it all! I also made a batch of MMF and a batch of Toba Garrett and then rolled the two batched together. Outstanding as well, for anyone who really enjoys the stretch of MMF. I found that mixing the two batches together took some of the chew out of the MMF.

Hats off to MomLittr! I Love You! Thanks for taking my exhaustion away!

I hate to ask too, but I am just starting to get interested in fondant and that recipe sounds great to start with. Would you mind emailing it to me also?

I think MomLittr added or posted the Toba Garrett rolled fondant in the recipes, because it is there. Have plenty of extra powdered sugar on hand and add as much as you need while you are kneading it to non-sticky.

Thanks again MomLittr icon_biggrin.gif
