I made a cowboy boot cake for my husbands office. He works with 3 IT guys, that helps him out a lot with good deals on computer stuff. so he asked me to make a cake as a little "thank you". He took it to work today, and they guys just loooved the taste of creamy vanilla and fresh buttercream. they also loved the design, but the women on the other hand were critizing the "brown frosting". "I never saw brown frosting, bla bla bla".
First of all, you can buy chocolate frosting in every grocery store, second of all I made the BC myself and colored it with brown food color in different shades, because my hubby is allergic to chocolate and third of all THEY HAVEN'T EVEN TASTED THE CAKE OR THE FROSTING!
They guys were very defentive of me and the cake and told them to keep quiet and that they lost their chance of having a piece...
How can people be so spiteful? i worked my butt of for that cake, so my hubby has a nice thank you gift for his co-workers. that makes me very very sad 
First, you cake is wonderful! Very fun, and the colors are perfect.
My mother used to always tell me that people like that are just jealous and must have miserable lives to be so nasty. I don't know if it's true or not but it always made me feel better. I wouldn't even give it another thought. The cake was for the IT folks and if they liked it, that's all that matters!

Well the cake is just great!! You did an awesome job on it !!! And puhleeeesee!! Like they haven't ever seen brown icing before... yes, they have and yes, they're being petty ... they're jealous that your husband has such a talented wife!! I'd make a really girlie girl cake in pink/white/pastel colors with flowers and send that up there to get a response out of them!! 
They are just jealous they didn't think of a nice "thank you" like that and that they couldn't fathom to make something so beautiful. You're cake is so cool. You did an excellent job of blending the browns and I love the design you put around the sun!!! You should be very proud!!!

Sorry to hear about that Unfortunately, women can be like that...guys are more easy going, but girls seem to compete with each other. It's really sad. I personally think that your cake rocked!!! They were most likely just jealous that the guys were ooing and ahing over your cake.

Aren't women wonderful...I'll bet they show up with a treat for the guys too, to try to keep up! If you make another cake to take to the office, I would definitely keep it on the masculine side, and not try to please the witches! Janice

Based on experience, people who are this way are the ones who are so clueless and probably who can't even boil water..They hate what they see because deep inside them they like it, they're just too darn proud to admit that they like it and that they are so useless in the kitchen. To some people, if they give a compliment, they are acknowledging that they cannot do anything better than what you are capable of doing.. These airheads did not even pay a cent and right away they cannot think of anything good to say.. let them make cake , then critisize it. let's see how they feel. You did a really good job.. sadly they are just very incompetent..
Those (ahem) ladies are jealous that they couldn't get a piece of cake. So they had to put it down psychologically so in their own minds they didn't want a piece of that ugly old cake. You did the right thing by sending something special as a thank you.
some people have nothing better to do than make useless and downright mean comments about other people's work, and it must have been particularly easy for them to do this to you since they didn't have to say it to your face! they didn't pay for the cake, they weren't being forced to eat it, so their opinions should be of no consequence to you. it's just really poor manners to criticize a gift. don't let it get you down.
I think your cake is absolutley gorgeous. I don't understand why some people tend to put down the work of others. They are obviously unaware how much time and talent are put into a cake like that. I say SCR*W them. I would keep sending amazing goodies to the office for your husbands male coworkers to enjoy!!

Good work!!!! Welcome to CC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe someone could make it to adulthood and never have seen brown icing! i guess they've only seen barbie cakes!
These are the same women who probably bash each other behind their backs in the bathroom!! I know because I work with some of those. Your cake is great, and don't let them get to you!

I agree with the others who have responded..The cake is absolutly gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the end it really doesn't matter what other JEALOUS people say as long as the person who you made it for LOVES it then hey it's all good..But it is hard to hear when others critize your hard work for no reason other than being jealous..with that GREAT JOB and don't stop!!!
If I were you, I would make a big cake with all brown icing on it. Give them a dose of their own medicine.. I wonder what planet they are from ? Brown Icing is not unusual.. Obviously they're the useless- in- the- kitchen type of women... very pathetic !!! more power to you... make them more mad !! go go go !!!
For some reason there always seems to be someone who wants to hurt others..........I think your cake is very creative and I can see you put a great deal of time/effort into it........if I ever had a wish come true it would be that others wouldn't say/do hurtful things to us. Chin up......move on......they were jealous someone else was receiving attention for their good work......... and why in the world would someone be critical of "thank you"!!!!!!!!!!!! 
It would be a shame to live a life of negativity............

ANd if we here at CC said it's "GREAT"....who are they to say anything negative about it.... They musn't spend much time in the kitchen or they would know that there is such a think as brown icing...and it's very common... I'm sure your hubby was proud of such a nice thank you for the guys he works with... You did a super job on it...\\

You did a fabulous job on the cake and I must say, your different shades of brown icing are really well done, most of us can't do that well even when using cocoa, so as a decorator, I am impressed!
I likely shouldn't say this, but leave it to women to behave in this manner. I have never seen men make catty, jealous comments, but women, well...
Good heavens, they should get out more if they have never seen brown icing! I think it is wonderful that you have found your way around this chocolate allergy, good for you!
