I have been making cakes using the 3" high pans and torting/filling twice so the cake is 3 layers with 2 layers of filling.

I am asked to make a round birthday cake for 25 people. If I use the 3" high pan, what size round should I bake?

I have looked at various charts but they are all over the map with servings and they mostly quote the 2" high pans with 2 layers.

What size would YOU bake for 25 people, generous servings?

Thanks.

i would do at least a 12 inch. the batman cake i did for the party this weekend was a 2 inch deep 12 layer and it fed 15 kids and 5 or 6 aduts and was devoured. then they cut into the 6 inch stackers!
