QUESTIONS!

How do you do the striped effect using this technique?

When you refrigerator the leftover icing in the bag, do you not need to rewhip it?

My answers. Striped effect would be simple. Say that you wanted purple and white, well you do one "plastic wrap" method for each frosting colour, but reduce the quantity of frosting so you don't have as much frosting in each piece of plastic. Then slip them in side by side. The colours will be seperated due to the plastic wrap, but once you start squeezing the colours out, they will combine.

Usually when I have leftover frosting (as long as I don't have any colours mixed, I will remove my tip and squeeze the excess frosting into a container, and will store it in the fridge, when I need it, I simply let it come to room temp and re-whip it.

OK!!! I did this today when setting up the "Ana" wedding cake. This is the best tip since Viva tip.

I will also incorporate this in the kids cake decorating BD parties that I do. This will save major time when trying to refill messy bags with frosting. And I won't have to rubber-band the end of the bag--how cook is that?

Okay....I'm like SUPER new to decorating and I'm like SUPER messy with the bags. I used this tip tonight on my superman cupcakes(in my pics) and it ROCKED!!!! There was hardly any mess to clean up at the end and my hands didn't get ANY frosing on them....no greasy fingers. Also, because of the hurricane (I'm in NC), our "Pool Party" on Saturday is being converted into a "Ice Cream Cone Cupcake Decorating Party". This tip will be PERFECT for the kids!!!!

THANKS FOR THE SUPERIFFIC TIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I'm already in love with the plastic wrap in the measuring cup for crisco idea too!!!

Another easy way to "load" the decorating bag is to place it in a tall glass, then fold the top of the bag over the top of the glass and fill the bag with icing. I do it all the time and works great. icon_smile.gif

Another way is to use the plastic bags you get in a supermarket for the fruit and veg. Thread the bag into your bag, making use you don't twist it, past your cup holder. Cut the plastic bag so your pipe fits over it then tie a soft knot in the top of your plastic bag at the other end so you can refill if need be. Clean Bag every time. You can then make your own bags from raincoat material and never have to wash them.

If you want to save this post, then click on 'watch this thread' at the bottom of the page. It will be under Watched Topics for you in the Forums.

This is a great idea. Never heard of it before, and really wish my instructor had shared this, but she is kinda new to decorating herself, so she may not know it. Will have to share this in class today.

Thanks!

Fantastic tip! Great for children learning how to use a decorating bag. No more icing all over the top of the bag and no more rubberbands that never really hold the icing down once kids try and use the bag!!! Thankyou for a fantastic tip!

I love this tip - and for anyone who doesn't use this tip, my Wilton I instructor gave us another tip for easier clean-up - FREEZE that bag of frosting - it will come right out of the bag once its solid...

Happy decorating all,
