You have all inspired me to try a batch of cookies decorated with MMF. I love how neat they look! Any advice about how thick I should roll the MMF? Also, do you put the fondant on immediately after they come out of the oven, or do you let them cool a bit?

TIA! icon_biggrin.gif

I roll it out very thin to about 1/8 of an inch. I allow my cookies to cool. I personally brush the cookie with corn syrup and then attach the fondant which I cut with the cookie cutter. Hope this helps.

I am so glad I found this thread I was just going to post a question regarding MMF on cookies. Will the MMF stay smooth when it dries or will it crack? I am making cookies for my SIL's baby shower and want them to look nice.
Thanks

From the pictures I have seen, it seems that the fondant stays smooth on the cookies and does not crack. This is especially true if it is applied when hot and the fondant sort of melts on. I am still hoping someone will respond about how thick they roll the fondant when they melt it on, but maybe I will just have to do trial and error.

OK, so then is it best to apply the fondant as soon as you take the cookies out of the oven? Do you have to apply anything on the top of the cookie before putting the fondant on top?

Thanks

I had rolled the MMF to 1/8th of an inch, and applied it to cooled (overnite) cookies, using just a little water on the back. They did not crack at all.

I've done the same as MomLittr, only I used the Wilton fondant.

No cracks, and stays smoth. Just used water.

I have some pictures in my gallery if you want to take a look. They are the fashion cookies.

ok - now that I actually used a 16 oz bag of marshmallows as opposed to a 10 oz bag (didn't know there were 2 sizes) I love MMF - it is soooo easy to work with and decorating cookies is a breeze. I worked with a little more than a handful of MMF at a time, warmed it in the microwave rolled it out cut and applied with a little vanilla - they looked beautiful.
