Quick Question About Miniature Pans 2",3",& 4&
Decorating By sewingtreasures Updated 21 Jun 2005 , 4:01am by sewingtreasures
I just bought the Magic Line set of miniature cake pans - each one is 2" deep and rounds in 2,3 & 4". I am anxious to use them and hopefully will tonight but I was wondering if anyone here knows the approximate amount of cake batter for each one and baking times.
THANKS!!!
Susie
I've been looking for the sheet that came with my pans, not magic line , but I can't find it. The 2" one only can hold about a tablespoon without overflowing, the other two I fill a tiny bit over half way, and I always put a cookie sheet under them so if they overflow I don't have to clean the oven!
These are so cute, but so hard to ice, I always have dings and dents in the icing whether it is BC or fondant! Janice
I just ordered some myself .. I can't wait to try them... I think they're adorable and are a good way to let people sample some of your cakes
Thanks for trying help...I bakes 2 sets already. The 2" pan took about 18 min. the 3" & 4" took 22 min. - 24 min. filled them all 1/2 way and none of them overflowed. I baked them at 350 F.
I'm making a cake for 2 parties this weedend - both on Saturday. One is for a belated wedding reception (150 people) and the other is for a graduation party (100 people). I am going to be making a lot of cake this week - I thought these pans are the cutest things. My 11 yr. old daughter is going to decorate one herself - the ones I made with some extra batter. I hope that they aren't too difficult to ice. She loves watching me decorate so now she can work on something herself.

Janice! I hope it's not too hard!!! Icing the cake isn't my favorite thing to do on big cakes! I hate it in fact! I have yet to try fondant - I have been steered away from it from all the people who tell me it tastes aweful I don't want my cakes to taste bad KWIM.

I'm glad your mini cakes turned out well. I'm probably just putting too much batter in mine!
No, Icing them isn't really that hard, it is just a little tedious and time consuming. The only fondant I have used is the Marshmallow Fondant that I got the recipe here on CC, it is easy to make and tastes really good, like those marshmallow peanuts of years ago!
Have a good time baking this week! Be sure to post some pictures! Janice
I have a couple of photos in the gallery of mini cakes, and a new one to post.
I bought the @%$&*&*&@#(*$&!!!!! plastic mini pans and I hate them with a passion! I want the metal ones

I was wondering if those were any good - I almost ordered them too - Thanks for the warning now I know not to buy them. Sorry they didn't work out like you wanted them to for you. Maybe your can sell them on ebay to recoup your $$$. I think you would be pleased with the mini pans by Magic Line - I know I am. But I have yet to decorate them yet. So we shall see - right! LOL! They are neatly wrapped waiting in my freezer though - I think I made 4 of each size. I am making some Petit Fours too and just using the new Wilton Round Cutouts instead. I made 2 jellyroll pans of white cake today. This is my first attempt at trying them. I'm trying to decide if I should put a filling inside or not. I have lemon & raspberry.
veejaytx - I think that I am only going to frost with the buttercream. I haven't tried the rolled fondant yet & just working on buying all the things I need to get started - it's a little overwhelming...and expensive...
I took a peek at your gallery of pictures and they are all very nice! Is the first cake a miniature? I'll try and figure out how to do the picture thing...
