yeah I liked it!!! But then again I like just about anything they have on the food network!! LOL My husband threatens to have it cut from out subscription hahahhahha he gets so tired of watching it too. I agree, the birdhouses weren't THAT great.....I mean they were definitely cute but it seemed to me that the competition was about the recipe not the decorating aspect! Anyhow.......the wedding cake cookies were beautiful too but again, that was more the decorating...those peach cobbler newtons on the other hand looked soooooooo good mmmmmm...That poor air force guy. I felt so bad for him when I saw him trying to form cups out of his cookies!! Tragic.

I watched it too. Twice actually. My DH is a cookie fanatic!!! Always asking me to make him some. He kept telling me to do it next year. (I'm sure its a lengthly process.) But it makes me feel good icon_smile.gif I think he thinks hes entitled to the money for being my taster if I win! haha.
I really enjoyed it. I wasn't too impressed with the birdhouses either. Great idea, just alittle sloppy for being given over an hour to do them. Smaller would have definatly been better. I was surprised to see the southern lady didn't do that well. I thought she had some really great sounding recipes in there. But only the judges know how good they really tasted. I felt really bad for the one guy in there - nothing was going his way. Which makes me think even more that we all could do it!

I know, when that guy was forming those little cups I felt so bad. I didn't think there was a chance that they would still be standing when he took them out of the oven, but I was rooting for him.

And any cookie that has to be eaten with a hammer is a little too much cookie if you ask me. icon_wink.gif

I was just drooling over all those KitchenAid mixers, though!!! thumbs_up.gif

It was neat to see "regular folks" having a chance at something like this. I think the ones who did not place may have taken it a bit harder than professional cooks and felt bad for them. Although I really was not too impressed with any of the cookie recepies, really want to try the peach newton type one as I love peaches. As the show was coming on I went to the FoodTV website and of course all the recepies are on it.............wonder what other fruit would taste good in that cookie?!

I loved it. I didn't like the fact that the winner wasn't concerned about the taste of the birdhouse cookie. I thought that was what the whole competition was about. I also felt sorry for the girl who added to much baking soda to her cookie.

I was also facinated with the colorful assortment of KA's, icon_biggrin.gif

I agree about the bird house cookie, I think signature cookie it's like your own creation that you are famous for within your own circle and you know how to make real good, not about most elaborate cookie I didn't think there was anything to it in fact I missed the flavor part all I could tell was that it was a sugar cookie. I know I missed something but the whole smash it with a hammer thing did not impress me. Now those Key Lime Cookies!!!! I want to try!!!!!!!!!! I think the lady who won 1st place seemed a little too confident in herself I almost did not like that and the lady that won 2nd I think in my own opinion should have won 1st place Kudos to the guy who bakes!!!! I enjoyed the show...
Overall it seemed the winner had done her homework and it payed off. A couple of contestants were really docked in points for not doing their homework with regard to each theme and the recipe conversions for being in a high altitude city.

The air force guy "might" have been a medal contender if he had payed more attention to what the definition of a "fruit cookie" truly was. I agreed with the judges that a cookie with lemon flavor as one of the ingredients did not really qualify as a fruit cookie.

I was rooting for Septora (I probably just butchered her name). She killed her chances by not getting the leavening conversion right though on one of the cookies....I hated that for her becuase she really had some good looking cookies.
