Fallen Cake? Is It Still Okay?

I just had my first cake fall. Not bad just enough that I noticed when I took it out. The toothpicks came out clean so it appears to be cooked through. I've never had this happen before. Is the cake still okay to level and use?
It's been one of those nights and I'm not even halfway through this order. I'm a nervous wreck about this whole order.

Well i had a cake fall the other day and i put it back in the oven to finish cooking adn it rose back up. I would assume it would be ok. may be you can level it and tast the scrapps to make sure it taste ok. Hope this helps

Thanks, I didn't think about tasting the scraps. I'll definitely do that. I'm having a horrible time tonight and don't know why. Edges are trying to crust up, just all kinds of things.

Well i will send some good cake karma your way. lol I had that problem on friday when i was making my sons cake. In the end everything turned out great as im sure will yours.

My test cake for the choc tres cake was a center fall cake... I just put the fallen part down on the plate and went from there...only one layer fell so I was thankful...I did notice when it was cut that the part the fell was like a missing chunk but not a problem at all...especially since it was a test one and the other one came out ok..

In my experience, it's only the chocolate ones that fall on me. Frustrating.

Isnt' that funny!!! My chocolate cakes never fall. However, my butter cakes always fall some in the middle. I did a lot of troubleshooting and it has to be my oven. Its was new when we got it. After a year of usage, my cakes started sinking (just butter cakes) and I mean REALLY sinking in the middle. I had to stop baking at 325 and bake now at 350 F. They come out much better, but still sink a little in the middle.

My chocolate cakes and sponge cakes don't sink. Who knows why!! I sure don't know!

Hi...love to read cc. I have a cake that I make that always wants to fall in the middle a little until I found an answer. I tried making a heater core. I use the flower nail. I put it in the middle of my pan. Try it, I think it will solve your problem. It did mine. icon_smile.gif
