I did it...Today I ordered a shed that I am going to turn into a kitchen. It is a 10 x 16 (my kitchen in my home is only 10 x 10). It will be set up along the side of our garage and backyard. I am so excited. It will be between 1 and 2 weeks till delivery. Now I will be able to put all my "toys" together and not have to keep moving them out of the way.
I also found a store that wants me to put a book of my cakes out and help both of us to generate business. WOOHOO! I had found a kitchen to work out of last week, I baked one cake there so far and it was a pain for me because I kept having to call home for stuff. Now I will be home.
BTW the Idaho health dept considers cakes a low risk and do not govern these home businesses. But, I am going to comply with the laws as closely as possible anyway.

My husband and I have been pricing all my "needs" to get it all set up. Today we looked at ovens and fridges. Fun!

YIPPEE..

Sounds like fun. I thought about that too actually but the only place we could put it was in the back corner of our yard. Which is not that big but I thought about making it like a "grown up" doll house, putting a cute sign on front and flower boxes on windows. That would cuten it up some! Does your state require you to have a bathroom though, and 3 compartment sinks? Just wandering if all that would fit in there? Show us some pics soon!!

No, in Idaho the department of health does not monitor home based cakes business. It is considered low risk.

Brendansmum-

Yeah, another kentuckian! Where are you located? And do you just bake from home or have a business?

Thanks I like my quote too! Thought it was pretty accurate for this site!!

I'm in Nicholasville, a little south of Lexington. I'm getting my permit on Tuesday from the health dept. I'm going to be using a kitchen at a new tea room in Wilmore. We're trading labor for time in the kitchen so I don't have to pay her anything but my time. we have it worked out so that if I use 2 hours of kitchen time I help her out for 2 hours and so on. Not to bad of a deal, for now!

OMG! I live in Harrodsburg! How weird! We are about 30 minutes away. Good luck with all that! I could do something like that at our church but would not want to drive back and forth all the time!
