I'm interested in doing an "Ideas" page on my website and I was wondering what yall thought about it....

What I wanted to do was to make a list of which picture was done by which CC user, and then save the pictures, and upload them to my Ideas page of my website, WITH YOUR PERMISSION!!!, and it would state very plainly that I didn't make these cakes on this page they are here for strictly inspiration and ideas of what can be made such as a CupCake Cake, I haven't made any yet and would like to let visitors know that it is possible, or other types of cakes I'm confident I can do similar to what is shown. But they would be used strictly for inspiration purposes only. In no way shape or form would I suggest that your photos are my own, and could even put credit right there on the page under the picture with the picture name have it state "CupCake Cake done by _____" if wanted.

I totally understand if the answer is no from everyone, I've been thru all the forum threads about people stealing photos and putting them off as thier own. I don't want to do that. What I want to do is give my clients inspiration and help in choosing a cake, or a design. I know some people print pictures out and have a book of cakes they didn't create and it states so, for thier customers to look at strictly for inspiration and I'm wondering if it would be alright for me to do that, only instead of printing, posting on a website. If you will give me your permission, please also PM me and let me know if you'd like your name/username/real name whichever posted with said picture(s) and which picture(s) you'd be willing to share publicly like that.

I don't know how other people feel but I don't have any problem with it. I have wanted to do the same thing! It will be interesting to see the responses you get.

I wouldnt' see an issue with it, as long as proper credit is given, but I'm interested to see what others think, as well.

Though I don't see you using any of mine, I certainly have no problem with it.

*lol* not that I have a cake that anyone would want to put on their website, but if I was given credit I'd be flattered.

To cover your bases you might think of pm'ing the people whose cakes you are interested in using in this way. Not all of them might read this post...

Tred lightly here, you a getting into a VERY sticky situation...

Not long ago there was a woman who did the same kinda thing, but she did not get their permission...It caused a HUGE war. Some peple took major issue with it, some CCers just said that it was ok, because she did admit that they were ideas and not her cakes...

Like I said, it caused a huge battle on the boards here.... I can kinda see both sides....And like I said she did not get the permission first so???

I was wondering the same thing, I want to do a web page but I don't have enough different cakes done to do it. Where would you have all the time, as the people buy yours you can take down someones picture and put yours up. I think it's a good idea, I'll keep watch to see what others think. I'm easy going though, some are not.

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with this as long as credit was given. I havent done too many yet and don't know if you would want to use any of the cakes I have done, but your more than welcome to.

I'm wondering what others have to say as well. I think your idea is great, proper credit given, I think most would be flattered. IMHO

Personally, I don't think mine are up to that level, but yes, as long as you gave credit, I'd say yes.

Florimbio, I understand 100%!!! I've watched a few of those threads and that's the main reason I figured I'd post here instead of PM'ing people straight from the Galleries. I figured if I got only a handfull of Ok's from people here on this thread I could then PM each person with a list/or 1 or 2 photos I'd like to "borrow" of theirs.

I don't have a problem with you doing this as long as proper credit is given. You may want to add permission to post given by creator then name beneath the picture. To further protect yourself ask for an email or a PM from the creator giving permission. Then keep a printed copy of the permission granted in a file.

I think it looks good. Just one note for editing purposes, you want to use the spelling "sole" in this context. Other than that I think it sounds great!

Kathi, that was brought to my attention a while back I think by you lol and I changed it on every single page except the base page (a non-listed page that holds the base html for my pages and all I have to do is copy and paste and add more info into it) I have changed it on both the ideas page and the base page lol thank you for bringing that to my attention I wouldn't have noticed it lol.

Once the site is back up fully I will start checkin out photos and PM'ing yall that have said yes and seeing what we can do about giving credit. I do plan to keep a list as well as copies of the PM's getting permission, and if you want your real name listed I can do so, if you want your CC name listed I can do so, if you want just your first name listed I can do so.

I also plan on doing a links page that will give people other cake decorators website links for those who want to be on that list let me know and I will add you to it. I haven't set it up yet because I'm not sure how I want to do it, if I want to say for ideas visit these other fine decorators, or if I want to say something like if I'm not in your area visit these decorators and list by state... Let me know your ideas on this part as well please

I think you're going about it the right way. Just like publications that grant permission to use all or part of an article withpermission in writing from them . Sounds like that's what you're trying to do, so it would be totally different from the previous problem referenced above. SOunds good to me!

I agree...sounds like a good plan. If the person who made a cake you want to use says no, then just move on...sounds like lots of people here are agreeable to it!!

Great idea. I think you're going about it in the perfect way. There's no way anyone could have a problem with what you're doing since you're asking first.

You can use my pictures, although they probably aren't what you are looking for.

It sounds great and your site is set up very nicely. Just make sure that you save the e-mail with their permission. I work for a company where you have to CYA on everything. (sad isn't it?)

Here's a thought on how to get around posting a photo other then yours, just put a link there to cake central.

Your web page looks nice! I don't have a problem with you showing any of my cakes, I think it would be an honor (if there are any you would even be interested in).....and, you are going about it the right way, best of luck!

Ditto - my cakes probably aren't what you're looking for, bu you can use them if you want.

I think it would be nice to post the original decorators name under each photo.
