Hello Everyone,
I need to make a full sheet cake for a birthday party and I need some advice.
I have never done full sheet cakes, my questions are
1. what is the size of a full sheet cake?
2. Do you buy like a full sheet pan or can you make like 2 half sheet cakes and combine them?
3. How many people will a full sheet cake feed?
Thanks in advance
Deepthi
I made 2 12 x 18 for my first full sheet cake...the board i had to put the cakes on wasn't quite big enough for the 2 cakes, so i ended up trimming some off the sides, which was a big deal b/c they were a little hard any ways b/c i didn't put a flower nail in the middle of the pan to help evenlybake it....live and learn....here is a link to the wilton website that tells you how many servings a fullsheet cake feeds. BUT how many people it feeds really depends on how big of slices you cut the cake into...They also have charts for 3 in deep pans...HTH

I just use either 2-half sheet pans or 4 1/4 sheet cakes pushed together and I get the foam core inorder for the cake to be sturdy. I also get the box from the local grocery store bakery department. They sell those boxes to me individually since I don't have that many orders for full sheet cakes.
yes you can buy a full pan, but unless you have a commercial oven it wont fit- herefore i do 2 12 x18 "
I just made my first full sheet cake and from my research I learned that there is definitely some controversy out there about the size of a full sheet cake. I used a 12x18 pan and put 2 of them together for 24x18 cake. A full pan probably won't fit into your oven. With 2" x 2" servings, this size will give you 108 servings.
Good luck!!
I have 11x15 pans and 12x18 pans. If it needs to feed around 100 I use 2-12x18s. If it needs to feed around 75 I use 2-11x15s.
Thank you.....Thank you....Thank you everyone..for all your answers. Now I feel much better about making a sheet cake...I was initially scared to do it..
