I want to start attempting sculpted cakes, but I have no idea what an interior support is. (except it is a support for the interior part of the cake icon_lol.gif ) So my question is what is an interior support and where do I buy them or how do I make them. I have seen several cakes that said they used this, but I have not heard of this before. So please, what is it and where do I get them?

Thank you!

you would make your interior supports for each individual cake. it would consist of double thickness cake boards, or thin wooden boards, dowels and screws. any area that 'hangs' would not be cake but made of styrofoam or a rice crispy treat mixture. So its hard for me to say exactly what you would need. If you make a sketch, plan on placing boards and dowels every 2 layers. Roland Winbecklers cake sculpting book explains this probably better.
