We are invited to my BIL and SIL's for dinner on Saturday and they asked me to bring a summer dessert.I don't want to go to the store and spend $30.00 on ingredients so I was hoping someone here would have a easy dessert I could make with regular stuff around the pantry....eveporated milk, oreo cookie crumbs,etc...

Do you have canned peaches and crescent rolls? With 7-up, Sprite or Mountain Dew...this makes a great cobbler.

Or try www.allrecipes.com
You can list your ingredients and it will find a recipe that has them in it. Hope that helps.

For a great dessert for summer, I take some unsalted soda crackers, layer them in a 9x13 pan, top with a couple tubs (single serving) Jello pudding (vanilla) spreading it over the crackers, then add Cool Whip spreading it over the pudding, another layer of crackers, layer of pudding, layer of cool whip, layer of crackers and then top off the crackers with a pie filling such as apple or peach (you can use just about anything). Put in fridge and let sit overnight. Everything blends together well and it is almost like a strudel.

Paula Dean has a really good Banana Pudding recipe on the Food Network website. It uses Chessman cookies, vanilla pudding, Cool Whip and bananas. It is delicious (and sinful icon_evil.gif !). You can search the FN site for the recipe. Good luck! thumbs_up.gif

Good ol fashion dump cake is great!

I also use bake up those peperidge farm puff pastry sheets, and then spread on them half cream cheese, half cool whip mixture, then top with fresh strawberries, etc.

Also, if you make the shells, you can just put some pudding in them and add cool whip! I add a alittle instant expresso to the chocolate pudding!

Put it in a bucket and add gummy worms or put in a clay pot and add an artificial flower...cute!

This one may have you going to the store, but it's super easy, quick, and not very expensive.

1 roll premade sugar cookie dough
1 8oz cream cheese
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Fresh fruit

Press the premade sugar cookie dough into the bottom of a tart pan and bake until golden brown.

Mix cream cheese, sugar and vanilla and spread over the cookie crust.

Top with the fresh fruit(s) of your choice. You can mix and match or just use one type.

I don't know if this would be a light summer dessert but it's definitely a treat. Everyone loves this. I don't put the almonds on though.

Easy Toffee

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups butter
2 cups white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt 2 cups semisweet chocolate
chips
1 cup finely chopped almonds

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a large heavy bottomed saucepan, combine the butter, sugar and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the butter is melted. Allow to come to a boil, and cook until the mixture becomes a dark amber color, and the temperature has reached 285 degrees F (137 degrees C). Stir occasionally.
2. While the toffee is cooking, cover a large baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
3. As soon as the toffee reaches the proper temperature, pour it out onto the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle the chocolate over the top, and let it set for a minute or two to soften. Spread the chocolate into a thin even layer once it is melted. Sprinkle the nuts over the chocolate, and press in slightly. Putting a plastic bag over your hand will minimize the mess.
4. Place the toffee in the refrigerator to chill until set. Break into pieces, and store in an airtight container.
