Last night I was in a mood to bake so I thought I would make a cake to bring to work with me. Since I work with about 50 people I decided to make a 14" round cake. I only have one 14" pan so I thought while I was putting the filling on the cake I thought I would put the second layer in the fridge so it would cool faster, BIG mistake! I finished the first layer and went to get the second when I noticed a funny stain on top of it, it looked like something liquid had dripped on the cake. My first thought was that the water jug setting on the top shelf had leaked, so I tasted it to see, I was WRONG!!! It was pickle juice!!! my boyfriend had knocked over a jar of pickles and it had dripped all over my cake, YUCK! I had to remake the entire layer, everyone at work loved it though. Next time the cake goes on the top shelf, lol.

Thanks for sharing! icon_lol.gif I feel your pain!

It reminds me of a few years ago I was staying with some friends out of town and they asked me to bake a cheesecake for a dinner party they were going to have. I baked it , let it cool, and put it in the fridge to set up over night. The next day we went and bought a whole red snapper for dinner and when we got back to their apartment My friend put the fish in the fridge and we went about our other preparations for the party. A few hours later I opened the fridge and saw that my friend had put the fish on the shelf above the cheesecake and it had "leaked" onto the top of my beautiful cake!!! icon_cry.gif I remember saying something to her about why you don't put raw meat, fish, etc on the upper shelves of the fridge and then proceeded to slice off the top half inch of the cheesecake so it wouldn't go to waste, then I just covered it with some whipped cream so you couldn't tell the difference. I didn't really think anything else of it, but apparently I had fire in my eyes icon_evil.gif when I reprimanded her because just recently she told me how scared she was because I was so angry about it icon_confused.gif . What did she think I was going to do- smash her face in the fish blood cheesecake?

Is it a "guy thing" that they don't exactly clean stuff up when they spill it??? Some men can be such doofuses at times huh??

Anyway, you should have frosted it and given it to BF. Coulda told him he deserved it for helping so much with making it (only kidding icon_rolleyes.gif ). LOL icon_lol.gif

I had thought about trying to feed it to him icon_twisted.gif but the only cake he likes is pineapple upside-down cake so it would have been a waste of icing. Anyways, I don't think that chocolate - pickle cake will be the newest taste sensation to say the least. icon_lol.gif He's not allowed in the kitchen anymore when I'm baking!
