i got a cookie press recently and to make the cookies stay in the right shape i have to make the dough stiffer than normal. then when they come out of the oven they are hard as a rock and they hurt your teeth to eat. does anyone have any suggestions to soften them up but still keep the shape even after they are baked?
What kind of cookies are you making? I make spritz cookes with my cookie press and they come out great, soft and yummy.
did the recipe called for more flour ? that's why it is rock hard..it had too much flour. Try another recipe that would stay in shape without adding a lot more flour. Look in the recipe section..
Are you using a recipe that came with the press? I've never tried the wilton recipes that come with the press, but they seemed close to the spritz recipe I've used before. Try allrecipes.com and search for spritz.
I thought you said you had to make the dough stiffer..did the recipe
say to add more flour to make it stiffer. ? what did you do to make it stiffer ? If you followed the recipe really well, without modfying it, then maybe it was in there a lot longer.. I cannot figure it out.. HHmmmmm..
I use a spritz cookie recipe from a magazine that I havae had forever but before I bake them, I put them in the freezer for a while. They always seem to keep their shape.
