Hi All,
First, let me say that I have been on vacation and SO missed Cake Central!! I am just wondering if anyone has a suggestion for me on Wedding cake prices. I live in SE South Dakota and am making my 3rd wedding cake in September. Each time I have made one, I have increased my prices a little because of exprience. Let me first say I have been making cakes for over 20 years, but I have always said NO to weddings, just because I don't like the pressure. So here is my 3rd one in a year for another friend. Do you think that $2.00-$2.25 a serving for a basic BC stacked cake is too much or not enough? I figured if I start adding more flavors, MMF or other decorations, I would charge more. Any feedback would be welcomed!!
Thanks,

I live in North Dakota and the grocery stores here start wedding cakes somewhere between $1.50-2.00 a serving but that's for a white cake with buttercream filling. The 1/4 sheets are $19.99 there. This is a high unemployment area too (we're by the Peace Garden).
I think your prices are fine, maybe a little low if anything.

I think that's a good starting point for a "plain" cake undecorated. I would for sure charge more for the accents.

Good luck

Thanks everyone. I think I will go with $2.25 a serving and up from there if she wants anything out of the normal.
