OK fellow cookie addicts I Would first of all like to apologize for not being around as much as I should. Things have been really hectic for me. So occasionally I pop on here but I am never here for too long. If I am, I have the laptop on and I am away. To give you an example of how hectic things are, in the last 48 hours I have spent a total of 24 hours at the office. So once again I apologize.

Secondly, I would like to thank Bonniebakes for being so amazing and keeping this club on track. She has been around more than I have and simply a doll. So thank you Bonnie we all appreciate what you have been doing for our little club.

Finally, we need a theme for August. Please submit ideas to this thread so we Can have the theme up and running by Saturday The latest. So have all the ideas in by Friday. I know this is not much notice but the sooner we have a theme the sooner you guys can get baking.

Also, it was brought to my attention that someone had a concern about the way the themes were voted on. We will look in to this as soon as possible to see if this can be improved upon.

Cake Princess- No need for the apology! Life is busy and there things that come before cookies! (ok not many but family and work seem to rank high) icon_lol.gif I think alot of us were hoping for bugs but we will see what else is mentioned. I am open to anything really. I haven't been able to participate as much as I would like either. I am really gonna give it a good try this month though. (I have something I want to try shhh.gif )

Well I hope life slows down some for you, and don't forget to make time for yourself!

August to me is back to school, but I know we start early down here. Bugs is fine with me.

I was thinking the same as cowdex, I guess September could be a good back to school month. I like the bug idea as well. I have a lot to learn, just starting out with cookies, so please forgive my messy attempt. Thank you Cake_Princess for starting this up.

I'm all for bugs .... I don't want to think about back to school yet as it means that summer is coming to an end. But then again, with this heat it's probably not a bad thing for any of us!!! icon_biggrin.gif

I have liked the idea of bugs but I also think it is limiting. Seems like it would be a lot of the same things. Maybe we could expand it to 'nature' or something like that. JMHO icon_smile.gif

Other than butterflies and ladybugs, I really can't see any other bug cookies being very attractive or fun to make. I don't mind the category at all because I would love to make butterflies and ladybugs--but it would be limiting as Yjudania stated.

Here are a few other themes I thought of (keep in mind I don't know what the past themes have been other than the seashore cookies I saw recently):

Fashion: dresses, shoes, hats, t-shirts, ties, purses, etc.
Animals
Sports
Fruits & Vegetables
Baby-related: rubber duckies, teddy bears, carriages, bottles, blocks, etc.

Well, that's about all I can think of. icon_smile.gif

Bugs for me. (we start school Monday already...that really bugs me!)

As for limited ideas on bugs, you don't have to use an exact bug-cutter for your cookie. You can use any shaped cutter and your imagination to come up with oh, um, say bookworms, lovebugs, picnic ants, etc. icon_confused.gif You don't have to make a lot of the theme cookies either. You can make one cookie as you're rolling out other batches. It's just a way to see what kind of creative juices are flowing out there. (and there's a lot so far! icon_wink.gif except for of course Cake_Princess who we're not even sure makes cookies anymore! icon_rolleyes.gificon_lol.gif )

oh wow that is just what i was thinking--of course there are
butterflies &
ladybugs--but lets add to that--

bees & bee hives
dragonflies
caterpillars
grasshoppers
snails
worms

of course us beginners will have to start with the simple--but the experts--wow there is no telling what we will see from them...just can't wait icon_smile.gif

I agree with the majority so far, BUGS. As Kos said, you don't necesarily have to have a 'bug' cutter to participate and I never make more than a few and cut out other styles to fit other themes. Let's get our creative juices flowing; are you up for a challenge???

So, I have never done Cookie Club before, but it sounds like fun. Can anyone do it? Do you have to use an official cookie cutter for the club or can we cut out our own shapes freehand?

Maybe I should just ask if there is an Offical Thread that explains all this.

Thank you. icon_biggrin.gif

I was all excited and feeling my creative juices were flowing on this bug them (my vote by the way) and then kos and daltonam blow me out my chair with all thier good ideas, 10 steps ahead of me!! I especially like the mention of ants, beehives and worm - just thinking beyond the basics!!

(ps, thinking ahead I do like the back to school theme for sept - also love the baby things theme for a future month - but definatley voting with the bugs this month!)

Okay I read the rules. When the theme (bugs) is officially decided do I just post my pic or is there something I have to do to join first?

Bonnie will create a post in this forum titled "August Cookie Club - (theme) " and you'll post your pictures as an attachment. To join, you must bake enough cookies to send one dozen to all who are listed on this thread. icon_eek.gifOkay, forget that part. If you want "in", you're in.

Happy Baking!
