I am getting ready to make decorated sugar cookies. I plan on using the NFSC receipe, and either mmf or rolled bc w. royal accents. I haven ever tried either icings and I only have my old hand mixer, do you think it will hold up? From what I have read these are pretty thick???

Thanks! icon_smile.gif

I haven't ever made rolled bc but you'll have to make the mmf by hand. I think you'd kill your poor hand mixer. I've made royal with a regular hand mixer though.

I have to agree. It might be quite a struggle for a hand mixer.

I'm not sure about the rolled BC but the royal will be fine--a NO to the MMF! You'll kill the mixer! thumbsdown.gif

I use a hand mixer for small buttercream batches and also for royal and color flow. I mix my fondant by hand like any other bread dough.

Thank you all. I will have an assistant (my eight yo daughter) and though I enjoy making her laugh, I wasn't crazy about putting on a show that involved smoke and sparks in our kitchen. Never mind the stories she'd have to tell every person she comes into contact w/.

Besides, I do not want to kill my lil ole mixer, I've had her for close to 13 years. I did ask for a KA for Christmas, wow they are nice.

I've made the rolled buttercream and i can tell you that a hand mixer will not do the trick.

Depending on the wattage of the mixer. If you have a hand mixer that is at least 300 W (same as some KA stand mixers) if will work. You might not want to stand around with the MMF though.

well since MMF nearly killed my KA, I'd have to say no to a hand mixer!
