I made the strawberry cake from scratch (sorry I forgot who submitted this recipe) this morning and let me tell you, absolutly delicious. I seperated the eggs and added the whipped egg whites at the end trying to get the airy texture. The cake ended up just melting in your mouth. I also used the frozen unsweetened strawberries for the puree instead of sweetened ones since I had read complaints about the cake being too sweet. I used a strawberry whipped filling and a stawberry buttercream frosting. I had enough batter for two 6in and 12 cupcakes plus three more cupcakes. I wanted to see if I could freeze the batter and then bake later. I'll give you an update when I attempt this. I highly recomend this recipe to anyone!

I'm not the original poster, but the recipe is in the recipe section here. I think it's called (aptly) Strawberry cake from scratch or some combo. of those words. icon_smile.gif

This is my favourite recipe of all time - all my friends choose this as their birthday cake - really is one of the best tasting recipes I've ever made (I use pureed fresh strawberries or unsweetened frozen ones too - I add a bit to the buttercream as well......mmmmmmmmm!). I highly recommend it too!

I have to say - I made this today and it's fabulous! I made it with unsweetened berries and it's perfect. Clear strawberry flavor and not too sweet so it pairs nicely with buttercream!
