I'm glad someone else noticed! WOW! icon_surprised.gif Most people, I thought, were WAY under priced. I mean Nevada??? How long did it take them to make all of that. I think it is a huge mistake to under quote like that in such a popular media because now people are going to think those are real prices.... icon_sad.gif

Congrats on your success. icon_biggrin.gif May the orders keep rolling in......And now you can give yourself a raise?? No? icon_cool.gif

Okay, I notice that as well, some were priced waaaayyyyy too low!! The Nebraska cake is BEAUTIFUL and it was only 200.00!! icon_eek.gif I'm hoping that's for a mini cake because that cake is gorgeous!!

But anyway, congratulations guys on your cakes being in People Magazine!! icon_biggrin.gif

Congratulations to all who can now claim they were in "People. The cakes are all beautiful. But I agree on the wide difference in prices. My first thought was that some of the low prices might be reflecting the area they are in.

littlecake,

The writer asked me to email a couple of photos for consideration and I emailed 2 photos... so they chose the one they wanted.

I don't feel any different... it is rather weird that this has happened.
I just know I give GOD the glory for any recognition... HE gave me the talent and I want to use it for HIM!

I can"t find the book at the store, is it out yet? Be nice to show to clients so they can see the prices when they think your prices are to high.

I am going on a hunt today to find this magazine. If I am unsuccessful, would one of our now famous decorators be willing to sell me and send to me an autographed copy? icon_biggrin.gif Come to think of it, maybe this is why I am having such a hard time finding one... you all have bought them out to send to all your family and friends. lol

That was my cake. Yes, it was a smaller cake. If I remember correctly, it only served about 70. When the lady from the magazine contacted me, she did want to know the serving size, but for some reason, they didn't include that on any of the cakes. I wish they had because it does make it seem as if my cakes are cheap, if compared to others, but it also does reflect the area we are in. I charge $2.50 a serving for fondant cakes, and I am the most expensive in cake maker my city.

On another note, I can't find this magazine anywhere either. icon_rolleyes.gif

Save your money on the magazine (unless you're one of the winners!); their web site gives much more info., plus, the magazine refers you to their web site. All the photos are small--they're spread across two pages. I found the magzine at Vons grocery store, at the check-out area.
Kudos to all those who were featured!

After searching through allllllll the racks of magazines in two different stores, I finally found several copies in the last checkout counter of the third store (found it in the last place I looked...lol... sorry, old joke.) I too was disappointed. I guess I was envisioning the same type of pics as on their website and NO prices listed in the mag. This was the main reason I wanted it, so I could show clients examples of what other decorators are doing and showing their prices. Oh, well, I am going to go back to the website and write out the prices listed. I may even email the companies and ask about servings. Great job again CCer's!!

Congratulations to all!!

I picked up the magazine last night in the grocery store. The magazine was okay but if you only want the cake pictures, stick to the website!

Lora - well, if they got your name wrong at least they got your contact info right - lol

Aundron - I was glad to see the midwest so well represented. So many people think of us as hicks but your cake sure showed them!

I used to live in Omaha NE but now live in Northern VA - let me tell you cake is not the only thing that's more expensive here!
