I am making No Fail sugar cookies. My question: Can you use the Rolled Buttercream for the top of the cookies instead of icing them but then decorate the cookies with Royal Icing? I heard if the royal icing touches the buttercream it will liquidify. Is this true? Has anyone ever used the Rolled Buttercream for the icing on their cookies and then decorated with Royal Icing? HELP???????? thanks
i've never done cookies & when i seen the first post & didn't understand---now i do---someone just said they used a fondant & melted candy colors, but i've never done this & i've never used rolled BC, good luck & here's a BUMP so maybe someone else can help.
I'm not sure either. I looked through the cookies gallery and saw many pictures that said the cookies were made with rolled buttercream and royal icing details so I guess it can be done. But like you, I thought I had read that buttercream breaks down royal icing. Maybe the rolled buttercream is different. Sorry I can't be of more help but at least this will give you a BUMP!
Come on all you cookie gurus. I need to know the answer. I want to make them today. thanks
royal icing will not harden if it touches anything with grease. so i guess the anser is no. no royal icing on top of the rolled buttercream.
I make most of my cookies with rolled buttercream and antonia74's royal icing. The royal icing hardens just fine. Hope I'm not too late in answering . All of my pictures are cookies w/rolled buttercream and royal detail (except for the bandaid, that's just royal).
Thanks! I'm looking forward to giving rolled buttercream a try! Glad to know I can add royal details!
